Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2had a pretty successful launch by all accounts. This entry’s sales were much better than the last few’s, withModern Warfare 2actually being the fastest-selling game in the franchise, and general fan and critical reception of this entry has been fairly positive. That being said though, fans are starting to express their disappointment over the lack of new content in the game, andCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2Season 2doesn’t look like it’ll help matters.

After a few delays,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is finally set to receive its second Season update on June 15, 2025, right alongsideCall of Duty: Warzone 2.However, whereWarzone 2is getting a new Resurgence mode and map, and a whole slew of quality-of-life changes,Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer mode is seeing no new content, at least none that Infinity Ward has officially confirmed. Fans are hoping thatWarzone’s new Ashika Island Resurgence mapmight lead to a few new maps coming toModern Warfare 2.

Ashika Island POIs That Should Come to Modern Warfare 2 as Multiplayer Maps

Coming toCall of Duty: Warzone 2on February 15, Ashika Island is the brand-new map debuting with the return of the long-awaited Resurgence mode. Smaller than Al Mazrah but still a decently sized Battle Royale map, Ashika Island has quite a few different points of interest, and some locations would be perfectly suited forModern Warfare 2multiplayer maps.

By far the most likely candidate for aCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2multiplayer map is the center of Ashika Island, Tsuki Castle. Essentially a remake ofCall of Duty: World at War’s iconic Castle map, albeit much bigger and better, Tsuki Castle is absolutely perfect forModern Warfare 2’s multiplayer. Situated on a clifftop, the main section of this map would be the remade ancient castle, with plenty of levels inside to run around. Surrounding the castle are a number of side buildings, including a barracks and a converted museum, along with a more open garden area. Underneath the castle is a small network of underground tunnels, along with a submarine base. This whole area could easily be translated to at least oneModern Warfare 2multiplayer map, if not multiple small ones, and the likelihood of this area actually becoming a map is very high.

Quite a few ofAshika Island’s points of interestblur together, with very similar-looking structures and scenery. That being said, there are still tons of locations in these POIs that would make for great multiplayer maps. Ashika Island’s Town Center would be well suited toModern Warfare 2’s multiplayer, with its central town hall, hotel, tourist center, and science center all offering plenty of opportunities for exciting interior firefights. Ashika Island’s Beach Club POI offers some similar possibilities for multiplayer maps, with its abandoned aquarium, bathhouse, beach, and observation deck offering some pretty varied gameplay options.

When it comes to much smaller multiplayer maps, Ashika Island offers plenty of inspiration there too. Its Residential POI, for instance, offers a cliffside village, with houses dotted around the sloping plains. Ashika’s Shipwreck POI already offers an interesting take onthe infamous Shipment map, with containers spilled onto a beach in the iconic pattern of the map, and a large tanker upturned next to it. Ashika’s Port area also offers plenty of confined spaces, with warehouses galore, and Oganikku Farms could offer frantic firefights in its greenhouses.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2andCall of Duty Warzone 2are now available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
