EA DICE has just releasedBattlefield 2042’s fourth season, Eleventh Hour, featuring 100 new tiers of battle pass rewards ranging from all-new weapons and cosmetics to a new specialist, weapons, and vehicles in both free and paid reward tracks. Accompanying Season 4 is the appropriately numbered Update 4.0.0, which makes plenty of changes and improvements to many aspects ofBattlefield 2042.
For fans of a franchise as long-lived and beloved as DICE’sBattlefieldseries, 2021 was a massive letdown asBattlefield 2042was flooded with negative reviewsas one of the most disappointing releases in the series. In the time since the game’s release, DICE has had to put in a lot of effort to salvage both the game and the studio’s reputation, and to its credit, the game has come a long way since its earlier days. A plethora of major updates that have fixed many glaring issues along with the addition of new content has helped the game rise from a Mostly Negative rating to a Mixed one on Steam, indicating that the game is headed in the right direction.

Today marks the start ofSeason 4: Eleventh Hour forBattlefield 2042, which comes with plenty of new additions to motivate players to work up the tiers. First up is a new map, Flashpoint, which is focused on close and medium-range combat across several facilities separated by steep hills and narrow roads. The season also introduces the game’s latest and final specialist, Camilla Blasco. Blasco is focused on stealth and reconnaissance, equipped with an X6 Infiltration Device which creates a dead zone for enemy spotting and lock-ons while also spotting enemies in the vicinity. Her Ambush Expert trait also keeps her safe from motion-based gadgets like Claymores, Proximity Sensors, and Sentry Guns.
Battlefield 2042’s vehiclesare being expanded thanks to the arrival of the CAV-Brawler, which excels at maneuvering through small spaces like those found throughout the new Flashpoint map. Its main function is as a squad spawner, as it can be easily navigated to a safe location on the frontline to help the squad maintain a foothold. Season 4 is also bringing new weapons including the AC9 SMG, RM98 Assault Rifle, RPT-31 LMB, and Super 500 Shotgun. The SPH Explosive launcher gadget is another new arrival that launches a sticky delayed explosive.
Although this season will be seeing the final new specialist, that doesn’t mean the game is done with seasons. DICE says thatBattlefield 2042Season 5later this year will be consistent with other seasons and will still feature plenty of new additions.
General Improvements
Controller Mapping
As part ofupdate 3.2.0and theReturn to the Class Systemthe Default Mappings for Controller Layouts were updated to accommodate the addition of the new Class Gadget slot, and accompanying gameplay changes. Due to these changes we’ll need to reset Custom Layouts for controllers. As part of this update we’ll reset the following binding options in order to avoid any further conflict with the new default layouts:
We encourage you to familiarize yourself with these changes and to update and re-customize your controls prior to jumping into a match.
Falck
Lis
Dev Comment: With these adjustments we’re looking to push Lis into having a higher skill ceiling (more skill required to master) and also ease up on the vehicle player experience.
The turning adjustments introduced in this update will make it so the missile will be less agile, hindering its ability greatly to double-back on itself after an initial miss
The boost acceleration & speed reductions will now enable vehicle players more of a chance to react to an inbound missile.
Also we want players to have a clear target they wish to attack with the TGM before it has been fired which we saw was not the case in update 3.2.1, these turning changes combined with the boost acceleration, speed and max range reductions are targeted to address this.
