Fans ofHunter x Hunterhave waited a long time for the series to continue, and that is because the creator suffers from severe back issues which prevent him from continuing the manga on a regular basis. There have so far been twoHunter x Hunteranime adaptations, but the second one receives more praise because of the updated animation, and because it covers more of the story.

The Chimera Ant Arc is one of the arcs covered in the 2011 series, and many consider it to be the series' best and darkest arc. By eating different creatures, the Queen can pass certain characteristics onto her children, which is why many of these ants take on humanoid and anthropomorphic appearances. Each Chimera Ant sported a unique design and personality, but some ants were better than others.
10Shaiapouf
As one of the King’s Royal Guards, Shaiapouf is strong enough to take onthe most dangerous Hunters, and unlike other Chimera Ants, he looks fully human. He resembles a young adult with blond hair, and he wore a frilly white shirt with black pants and shoes.
Shaiapouf is a tall and lanky individual with purple skin, and he has antennae on his head. The most striking part of his appearance are the large multi-colored butterfly wings on his back, which can produce hypnotic effects.
9Bloster
Bloster is one of the earlier human-based Chimera Ants, and he is a former Squadron Leader who was tasked with bringing food to the Queen. For the most part, he is not an emotional individual, but he did cry when he Reina and her village invited him to stay. He is also quite observant.

He is literally a humanoid lobster with a blue exoskeleton and human-like legs. His arms are replaced with large claws, and thanks to hisNen ability, he can create fire aura bullets from the gun barrels in his claws.
8Rammot
Rammot was an officer in Colt’s squadron, and he was the first Chimera Ant to awaken his Nen. Even by Chimera Ant standards, Rammot was sadistic, as he enjoyed seeing his victims in agony, and he wished to join squadrons that killed humans for fun.
In terms of genetics, he was the combination of a human, a rabbit, and a small bird called a shrike. He looked like a humanoid rabbit with thick thighs and long ears, while his arms were covered with bird feathers.
7Leol
Leol may have been a Squadron Leader, but he was one of the most disloyal Chimera Ants, which is odd since his officers were incredibly loyal to him. He was a laid-back individual who enjoyed killing people, and he was fairly strong, seeing as he was able to takea character like Morelto his limits.
Leol was an anthropomorphic lion with a white mane, and his skin was a burnt orange color with tiger stripes. He wore beach sandals, a black shirt, pink shorts, and a skull necklace. His clothing may give off surfer vibes, but he was still an intimidating Chimera Ant.
6Neferpitou
Neferpitou was the first of the King’s Royal Guards to be born, and they killed Kite,which caused Gon to go down a dark pathin the second half of the arc. They were extremely loyal to the King, but they were also very curious and loved to play.

Pitou was a humanoid cat who wore a nice blue overcoat, a pair of blue shoes, and orange shorts and socks. Their cat ears and tail had yellow and white fur, and their hair was wavy and white. Their knees resembled insect legs because of the demarcated joints, and their ruby-colored eyes were their most striking feature.
5Zazan
Zazan was another Squadron Leader, and when the Queen died, she proclaimed herself Queen and set up her own colony in Meteor City. She was a power-hungry and vain individual with a large ego, and she was so strong thatFeitan needed to use his Rising Sun abilityto defeat her.
She was a scorpion-like Chimera Ant, and she sported a long tail with a stinger on the end. She had purple skin and unkempt fuchsia hair, as well as golden eyes and several raised fuchsia ovals on her forehead. When she first appeared, she wore a yellow bikini, which she later replaced with a corset.
4Cheetu
Cheetu was a second-generation Chimera Ant, and he led one of the squads that ate humans and killed them for fun. In terms of personality, he was simple-minded, confident, and arrogant, and he was constantly impressed with his speed, which makes sense since he was a humanoid cheetah.
Like other members of his generation, Cheetu’s arms and legs were segmented, giving him a more insect-like appearance. He is one of the colorful and primal-looking Chimera Ants, with yellow skin and a perfect cheetah head with purple hair. His chest and thighs were covered in white, spotted fur.
3Welfin
Welfin is an ambitious and sly Chimera Ant who wanted to curry favor with the Royal Guards, but he is also incredibly suspicious. He wanted to become the “Shadow King” so he could exert power from behind the scenes, and he tends to choose battles that he is confident he can win.
Welfin is a humanoid wolf, which means that he looks like a werewolf. He has long blond hair and a flowing yellow tail, with a wolf head. He has a lean yet muscular build with digitigrade and clawed pawfeet. Of all the Chimera Ants, he looks the most bestial when in his standard form.
2Menthuthuyoupi
Menthuthuyoupi is the youngest of the King’s Royal Guards, and he was the least humanoid of the group. He has the most volatile Chimera Ant, and he was prone to anger. In fact, his anger allowed him to assume more monstrous forms, making him one ofHunter x Hunter’s more interesting villains.

He normally looks like a very muscular man with dark red skin, very short hair, and razor-sharp teeth. When he enrages, his body morphs, and he can assume a form with multiple blood-red eyes and additional limbs which become tentacles. He can also become a centaur-like creature with a scythe on his right arm.
1Meruem
As the King, Meruem isthe strongest Chimera Ant, and he is by far the coolest member of his race. He started out as a violent and cruel leader who would kill his own people without mercy, but after meeting a young woman, he discovered more and more of his humanity
He had a toned and muscular humanoid look, with antennae on his ears and shell-like armor on his head. He had a powerful tail which included a stinger that looked like a hypodermic needle. Meruem looks like an anthropomorphic version of Cell from theDragon Ballfranchise, which explains his menacing appearance.
