While spoilers are kept to a minimum, the article covers the manga, anime, and even theVigilantesanime spin-off.

My Hero Academiawas one of the most popular manga in Shonen Jump for roughly a decade, and the series came to an end in August 2024. While the source material is done, the anime has a ways to go before it fully comes to an end, withthe final season announced for the end of the year.MHAis an incredible story of how, in a world of unique abilities called Quirks, Izuku Midoriya became the Number One Hero despite originally not having any powers. As with most popular Shonen,My Hero Academiaenjoys a decent-enough female cast.

While the manga and anime receive quite a lot of flak when it comes tothe handling of the female characters, some are handled quite well, and most of them are fairly iconic in their own right. WhileMy Hero Academia’s girlstend not to get the same level of attention as their male counterparts, the anime is still home to some well-written characters.

Updated on June 04, 2025, by Mark Sammut:Thebest MHA girlsdiscussion is not set in stone, at least when it comes to the anime. Vigilantes is currently airing its first season, and Pop Step is shaping up to be one of thebest My Hero Academia female characters.

21Nemuri Kayama (Midnight)

The R-Rated Hero Of MHA

Even though she might not look like the most intriguing character on the surface, Midnight has great depth to her, and whenever she is involved in the main plot, she tends to make the story more exciting. For the most part, she is primarily used for comedy relief and, occasionally, fanservice, but she is a competent hero and teacher in her own right. In the Final War Saga, Midnight gets an opportunity to shine, and she does not get lost in the shuffle.

Honestly, Midnight is probablyMHA’s most polarizing female character, at least when it comes to relatively minor figures who only appear occasionally.

20Chiyo Shuzenji (Youthful Heroine: Recovery Girl)

A Helping Kiss

Recovery Girl is arguably not among the most memorableMHAfemale characters, but she serves an important role as part of U.A. High School’s staff. Taking nursing to the next level, Chiyo’s Heal Quirk is extremely useful, allowing her to fix both minor and relatively serious injuries. Considering she works at a school that regularly stages explosive practical training sessions, her ability comes into constant use, althoughRecovery Girl is not a miracle workereither. She speeds up the recovery process, so there is nothing she can do if an injury is beyond rehabilitation.

While making an appearance in nearly every arc, Chiyo is the definition of a bit-part player, albeit one who is respected by students and Pro Heroes. She also does not hesitate to reprimand patients who are pushing themselves beyond their limits, and she is willing to make tough decisions if she believes it would be in their best interest.

19Toru Hagakure (Stealth Hero: Invisible Girl)

The Invisible Hero Of U.A

Toru is largely sidelined inMy Hero Academia, which is a bit disappointing sinceher invisibility could be a great and flexible power. The author does not focus on her much, that is, until it is time for her to shine. In the Final War Saga, she plays an extremely essential role, and, just like the other students in her class, she does her part in the operation to combat the villains.

18Melissa Shield

The Star Of MHA: Two Heroes

Due to primarily appearing in theTwo Heroesmovie, Melissa Shield is arguably one of the more underratedMHAgirls, even though she is part of the full canon. While Quirkless, she is among the smartest characters in the series, and she uses her big brain to invent quite a few impressive items, including for All Might.

Even though her screentime is limited, she accomplished a lot, at least going by the relatively underwhelming standards set by other female characters. Personality-wise, Melissa is just pleasant. She tends to approach things with an optimistic attitude and tries to see the best in most people.

17Manami Aiba (La Brava)

Gentle Criminal’s Sidekick

La Brava might be a small character in the grand scheme of things, but she is an exciting one that Horikoshi seemed to go all out on in terms of design. She’s quite quirky; however, her Love Quirk can be powerful, although it is the definition of a support ability. She is also a master hacker, which makes her pretty useful to Gentle.

16Anna Scervino

A Tragic Movie-Only Female Character

One of the newestMy Hero Academiagirls, Anna Scervino plays a prominent role inYou’re Next, the fourth movie in the franchise. Very much a tragic figure, Anna has led a life of isolation and suffering, especially once she fell into the hands of the Gollini mafia organization. Her ability, Overmodification, allows her to boost other Quirks, making them far stronger than their initial form. However, this result is not guaranteed, since not every Quirk is compatible, and Anna does not have much control over its impact and reach.

Due to being a movie-only character, Anna’s popularity and exposure cannot compare to any of thebestMHA female characterswho appear regularly in the TV series. That said, she is one of the best parts ofYou’re Next, and she also has a great design that lets her stand out from the crowd.

15Eri

The Hope For The Next Generation

Eri might just be the most influential female character inMy Hero Academia. Initially, she was introduced to the fans as a victim of the Shie Hassakai, thanks to her rewind powers, which she was abused and exploited for a long time. Eventually, Eri was saved by Deku, and from there onwards, her growth has been staggering.

Eri has not only learned to trust people, but she has also gotten stronger, both physically as well as mentally. She has also learned to control her Quirk, and her days of pain are behind her. Of course, the scars are still there, but Eri has taken great strides in life. Right now, she is involved in a plot that might help her shape the fate of the entire world. Among all the female characters inMy Hero Academia, Eri might just have the most important role of all.

14Kyoka Jiro (Hearing Hero: Earphone Jack)

Earphone Jack From Class 1A

Kyoka Jiro is one of the more reserved students in Class 1A. Despite that, she is known to be extremely capable in battle. Jiro has a very kind personality, although she may not show it. She thoroughly enjoys music and everything related to it. In fact, even her powers are related to music as she possesses a quirk named Earphone Jack.

This Quirk has turned Jor’s ears into earphone jacks, which she can plug into things and use the vibrations of her own heart to deal internal damage to them. She can also notice the faintest of sounds and track enemies better than most. With her Hero Equipment, Jiro can use several powerful techniques that are based on vibration. In the Final War, she even managed to fight against All For One to a great degree and played a significant role in damaging his mask and even disturbing his sense of balance.

13Mina Ashido (Pinky)

The Cheerful Class 1A Student

Mina Ashido is one of the most livelyfemale characters inMy Hero Academiaand she is also a student of class 1A. She has formed a very deep relationship with the vast majority of her classmates, especially Kirishima. Ashido is very capable in battle, and she makes use of her Acid Quirk to the fullest when she needs it.

Her strongest technique, named Acidman, was strong enough to melt even the claws of Gigantomachia, which is nothing short of incredible. Although she has not received a lot of attention in the story, she has had her moments here and there, which makes her very likable.

12Yu Takeyama (Mt. Lady)

A Pro Hero with the Gigantification Quirk

Mt. Lady is a Pro Hero who fans are introduced to very early in the story. She has a Quirk that allows her to turn into a gigantic human. Over time, Mt. Lady plays a significant role in the vast majority of the wars that the Heroes fight in.

She even played a role in the Kamino Incident and the Paranormal Liberation War that followed. In the Final War arc, she is, once again, important and is one of the most useful female characters in the story that Horikoshi has drawn. While she only shows up sporadically, Mt. Lady is still among thebestMy Hero Academiafemale characters, and certainly among the most recognizable.
