World of Warcraft: Dragonflightreleased two days ago, and though players have enjoyed plenty of its features and zones, it has also been plagued by technical issues that Blizzard has finally broken its silence about. Much likeWrath of the Lich Kingbefore it,Dragonflight’s boat and zeppelin bugactively prevented players from entering the new continent of the Dragon Isles. Even for the people who were ferried to the other side weren’t exempt from random disconnects and crashes, asWorld of Warcraftservers strained to meet the full might of a million renewed subscriptions.

Thetechnical issues fromDragonflight’s launchhave significantly died down compared to the first few hours of the game, but they are still present, and the development team at Blizzard Entertainment is doing its best to fix the problem. Issues such as user interface settings disappearing on a log-in, or players not being able to move their character order in the selection screen – all have played a factor in bogging down an otherwise enjoyable experience, and only half have been addressed so far.

In addition to posting a comprehensive list of notes that explains all the known issues inWorld of Warcraft, Blizzard also posted its official response on the situation. The team is aware of the unexpected technical issues that sprung up since the opening of the Dragon Isles, and the live operations and server engineering department is working non-stop to ensure a return to a smooth experience for allWorld of Warcraftplayers.

Given the history ofexpansions inWorld of Warcraft, it was folly to expect a steady release. EvenShadowlandsandBattle for Azeroth, two expansions famous for having a successful launch, still ended up with a myriad of issues within the first week. The true success ofDragonflightwill not be measured by the days that followed its premiere, but rather the speed with which Blizzard will fix its bugs.

Despite the issues, many fans are having fun inDragonflight, with Dragonriding across the Dragon Isles being the new obsession forWorld of Warcraftplayers. A notable improvement overShadowlandslies in the game’s writing, as people are also praising the quests and characters of the new expansion, citing Raszageth the Storm-Eater as a much better villain than Zovaal the Jailer, with far clearer goals and a more interesting design. Though players have clashed against her over the course of the Dragon Isles storyline, they will only be allowed a final confrontation on December 12, when theVault of the Incarnates raid opens its doors.
