In many ways,Tiny Tina’s Wonderlandsfeels more like its own game than anotherBorderlandstitle. While the spin-off retains several mechanics from the main series, such as the golden chest forShift Keysand the loot-focused shooter gameplay, its new features are where it truly shines. Unfortunately, it is hard to imagine most of these features being carried over to the heavily anticipatedBorderlands 4whenever it arrives.

While someTiny Tina’s Wonderlandsmechanics can absolutely be brought over, such as the Chaos Chamber endgame content, others are tied deeply into the game’s fantasy setting and would not work within theBorderlandsuniverse. As such,Borderlands 4could end up leaving a lot ofTiny Tina’s Wonderlandscoolest features behind, something that could make it a lot less enjoyable to fans of the spin-off. WhileBorderlands 4does not needTiny Tina’s Wonderlandsnew features to be great, it would still be a shame to see them abandoned.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Features That Are Unlikely To Appear in Borderlands 4

One feature that is getting a ton of love is the character creator. Thus far,Tiny Tina’s Wonderlandsfans have created alien characters, designed their Fatemaker in the image of Thanos, and paid tribute toOne Punch Man. Gamers are loving the freedom that the character creator provides, with players able to make virtually anything due to the variety of tools Gearbox has made available.

However, theBorderlandsgames have an established style where players choose one of four Vault Hunters to play as. TheseVault Huntershave their own personalities and stories, so a character creator would not make much sense in one of the mainline games. While the feature is hugely popular inTiny Tina’s Wonderlands, many would likely not want to see it replace Vault Hunters, though it’d surely be missed by some.

Another standout feature is spells,Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands' take on grenades. In the time since the game has released, many have fallen in love with spellcasting, with the rechargeable magic being far more fun to wield than the grenades ofBorderlands. However, withTiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ spellsbeing over the top and featuring anything from falling meteors or giant acid cubes, it is hard to believe that they will be seen inBorderlands 4. Players will likely have to go back to grenades, as the main games are far more grounded in reality.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands’ Overworld mapis yet another standout feature that is hard to imagine appearing in theBorderlandsgames. With vehicles like the outrunner being an iconic part ofBorderlands, they are unlikely to be replaced by the cutesy Overworld ofTiny Tina’s Wonderlands. With the Overworld working well because it leans into the board game setting ofTiny Tina’s Wonderlands, it is hard to imagine it existing outside of a Bunkers and Badasses campaign.

With all this in mind,Borderlands 4could disappoint those that loveTiny Tina’s Wonderlands. With spells being so powerful and unique, fans could find grenades weak and boring. Those that adore the charm of the Overworld could find vehicles to be a step down, while gamers fond of sharing their characters could be bummed to return to the limited customization options inBorderlands. Hopefully,Tiny Tina’s Wonderlandsgets more supportor becomes a proper franchise, as the game has introduced several features that fans will surely want to see again. WithBorderlandshaving such a different tone and its own gameplay systems, it might not be able to incorporate the best aspects ofWonderlands.

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlandsis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
