After months of rumors and a week of teaser videos, Activision has officially announcedCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. But besides confirming that the game exists and a properBlack Ops Cold Warreveal will come on August 26, the announcement was actually devoid of details. For example, it wasn’t confirmed which platformsCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warwould be releasing for, but now we know of at least one.
It’s been confirmed by Blizzard thatCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Warwill be coming to PC, and that the PC version of the game will be exclusive to the company’sBattle.netlauncher. This should come as no surprise, as it’s been the status quo for PCCall of Dutygames for years now, but it’s still nice to have confirmation either way. It was also confirmed by Blizzard that theBlack Ops Cold WarPC port is being handled by Beenox, which assists in the development of a variety of Activision-published games.

Unfortunately, more information onCall of Duty: Black Ops Cold Waris unavailable at the time of this writing, with fans likely having to wait untilAugust 26before they’ll get the chance to learn more. However, it seems safe to assume thatBlack Ops Cold Warwill be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at the very least, with PS5 and Xbox Series X versions highly likely as well.
As for when fans will actually get to play the newCall of Dutygame, that also has yet to be revealed. A prominentCall of Dutyfranchise leaker has made the claim that theBlack Ops Cold Warmultiplayer betawill take place at some point in September, with the full game launching in November. This would pretty much be in line with mostCall of Dutyreleases, with last year’s October release date forModern Warfarebeing an exception to the rule.
It’s possible that theBlack Ops Cold WarAugust 26 reveal will provide release date information as well as specify the platforms that the game will be available on. It may also offer a deep dive into the available game modes. It’s pretty much a given thatBlack Ops Cold Warwill have a single player campaign as well as the franchise’straditional versus multiplayer mode, but it’s unclear if it will have any other game modes as well.
Rumor has it thatBlack Ops Cold Waris bringing back Zombies, but that has yet to be revealed. Hopefully more information on that front comes on August 26.
