Unfortunately for one Redditor, Fadedgogeta, this lesson was learned the hard way. The user recounts the story of how they spent all of their COD points onsupply drops inCall of Duty: WW2, only to later load upModern Warfareand find their points completely spent.
It’s worth noting that the same principle applies with otherCall of Dutygames whichsupport the use of CoD points, such asBlack Ops 4. While this does mean that players that aren’t careful could end up spending points when they didn’t mean to, on the other hand, it means players can still collect CoD points forCall of Duty: Modern Warfarewhile playingCall of Duty: WW2. In that sense, it is sort of a blessing and a curse, but as long as players are careful and only spend their points where it counts it should be alright.
From the responses on Fadedgogeta’s tragic thread, it seems that other users have been making this mistake as well. Hopefully word spreads quickly and newer users can learn from the mistakes of those that come before them. This happens because CoD points arelinked to players' activision accountsrather than tracked separately by games, although some have noted that they can’t transfer between platforms (PC to PS4, etc).
The issue is twofold as well, as many fans were extremely unhappy with the wayCall of Duty: WW2handled its supply drops. Rather than the more modern battle pass system which is employed byCall of Duty: Modern Warfare,WW2used aloot box like system, and players were rarely able to get the items that they wanted. All in all, it is best to exercise extreme caution when spending CoD points in this month’s free game.
