The debut ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare’sSeason 6 content brought with it two powerful weapons, though these new weapons have thrown Multiplayer out of balance, making the two newModern Warfareweapons a topic of discussion for the game’s community.
Due to theunlock tier of the AS VAL and SP-R 208 Marksman Riflethe problem hasn’t spread too far. Players have to grind out quite a few ranks of the Battle Pass to unlock them, which means there is still time to curb the issue. As fans make it further intoModern Warfare’sSeason 6 content, many fans are expecting a nerf to come in the game’s near future.

The AS VAL was a fan-requested rifle thatdebuted at the beginning of Season 6. This rifle has quickly become a well-known addition to theModern Warfarearmory due to an unexpectedly high wall penetration. The weapon, once unlocked at Tier 31, gives fans access to subsonic rounds that completely ignore walls. This means that the AS VAL can shoot through a wall, lose no damage from it, and kill players on the other side in a devasting fashion.
The amount ofbullet penetrationis massive compared to other assault rifles, with bullets having been seen firing straight through walls without any damage loss or accuracy problems. Some players have even been killed from across the map after the bullets pass through almost eight individual walls and two buildings.
Normally, bullet penetration inModern Warfareis minimal.Full Metal Jacket upgrades can increase the damage of a weaponallowing it to penetrate armor plates or go through a single wall or surface, but what the AS VAL is capable of is far beyond this.
The AS VAL is not the only weapon seeing problems, asthe SP-R 208is also sporting an extremely powerful shot. When equipping the .308 Lapua rounds, this rifle finds that it has little to no bullet drop creating a hitscan effect in long-range situations. While is this useful inWarzone,it is extremely powerful and unbalanced compared to other weapons.
Fans are expecting a quick nerf to be applied early in the season. As more players gain access to these weapons the problem will only get worse. With the extreme damage and bullet penetration found in either of these guns, fans are worried that it may unbalance the game and ruin thefun ofModern Warfare.
