Call of Duty: Modern Warfarereceived its latest patch on Tuesday, February 25. The weekend update was surprisingly robust, adding new playable content like the Bazaar map and new playlists, but it also made several more general fixes. Both a range ofModern Warfare’s shotguns and the crossbow received nerfs, though the AK got a slight buff in turn. The update then went to touch on Challenge fixes,  Special Operations fixes, and adjustments toModern Warfare’s Call of Duty League.

The weapon nerfs and buffs are likely to be what matters most toModern Warfareplayers.Shotgunsreceived the most attention, as Infinity Ward apparently wants to make other weapons like SMGs more viable.  The Model 680 XRK 18.0", R9-0 Force TAC Sentry, and Origin 12 Forge TAC Precision all had their range decreased, but their ADS increased. Under Barrell shotguns, in general, now have reduced fire rate to make up for an increased pellet count and range increase.

As for other weapons, the crossbow also received a small nerf. It’s had its reload speed increased to allow for a little more counterplay. TheAK 5.45x39mm, on the other hand, has been buffed. It has increased close-range and mid-range damage.

New content is probably just as much of a priority for currentModern Warfareplayers. The Bazaar Gunfight map has been added to the game, joined by anupdated playlist named Dirty Old House Boatwhich now includes Shoot House in addition to Shipment and Rust. Three other new playlists include 3v3 Snipers on Rust, Giant Infection, and Boots on the Ground War, which features realism rules with no tanks).

Note that Infinity Ward has issued another patch since Tuesday. TheWednesdayModern Warfarepatchfixed several issues that the Tuesday patch introduced. For example, players were being prompted to reset their ranks yesterday, but that’s now fixed. A fix has also been issued for a bug that prevented Killstreaks from being used in CDL playlists.

Infinity Wardremains dedicated to consistent, if not constant, updates forCall of Duty: Modern Warfare. The one-two punch of a Tuesday patch followed by a Wednesday patch to fix some new issues shows that the studio isn’t just sitting around. Maintaining such a fast-paced content pipeline can’t be easy, but maintaining support for when the pipeline goes wrong is that much harder.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfareis available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
