Activision finally revealedCall of Duty: Vanguard, confirming its World War 2 setting, release date, and pre-order bonuses through an action-packed cinematic trailer.Call of Duty: Vanguard’s release date isn’t until November 5, and so fans of the franchise can expect plenty of news on the game between now and then. And thanks to Geoff Keighley, we know exactly when the next batch ofCall of Duty: Vanguardnews will drop.
Keighley has confirmed thatCall of Duty: Vanguardwill be featured at theGamescom Opening Night Live event, kicking off on Wednesday, August 25 at 11am PT. TheCall of Duty: VanguardGamescom premiere will include a full playthrough of one of the game’s levels, marking the first time that anyone’s been shown a full level of theVanguardsingle-player campaign. Keighley will be joined by Laura Bailey and Sledgehammer Games for the segment.

Call of Duty: Vanguard’s campaign will focus on four different playable charactersand be feature a “What If?” scenario that takes place near the end of World War 2. The game will be about stopping Adolf Hitler’s successor, which should allow the developers to have a bit more creative and narrative freedom than one would usually expect from a game based on a historical event or conflict.
Of course, the story campaign is just one piece of theCall of Duty: Vanguardpuzzle.Call of Duty: Vanguard, like mostCall of Dutygames, will have a number of major game modes and features for fans to check out. While there could still be some surprises in store, what’s been confirmed so far includes the iconicCall of Dutymultiplayer experience and aZombies mode developed by Treyarch.
Call of Duty: Vanguard’s multiplayer sounds like it should please fans of the franchise, as the game is built using theModern Warfareengine and will launch with a whopping 20 maps at launch. 16 of those maps will be traditional multiplayer arenas, whereas four will be smaller-scale, built for thereturning 2v2 Gunfight game mode. More details on the multiplayer maps and more should also come to light in the months ahead, though fans shouldn’t expect to see anything substantial at Gamescom, as it sounds like that’s being reserved for the campaign.
Call of Duty: Vanguardwill have an open betaprior to launch, so fans will be able to try before its release date rolls around in November.
