Raven Software continues to grapple with several significant issues inCall of Duty: Warzonethat frustrate the battle royale’s players. For the most part, though, Raven has acknowledged these issues and listed them as being investigated. It’s rare for a prominent issue inCall of Duty: Warzoneto go long without being acknowledged, given how vocal the fanbase is. To many’s surprise, an issue tied toCall of Duty: Warzone’s battle pass appeared to be ignored for several weeks, but has now garnered the attention of Raven. The current battle pass inCall of Duty: Warzonestarted without controversy, largely because it launched with adouble XP weekend. However, as time went on more and more players began to feel like something was wrong withCall of Duty: Warzone’s battle pass progression system. They weren’t acquiring XP at a meaningful rate, or players saw that others who played less were somehow ahead of them in battle pass progression. This criticism mostly spread in March and has persisted throughout the month.RELATED:Call of Duty: Warzone Devs Explain Lack of 200 Player Matches and Console FOV SliderYet Raven Software has only acknowledged the issue now. On Thursday, March 31, Raven posted a message saying that it’s investigating an issue whereCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers aren’t' receiving the correct amount ofBattle Pass XP. The issue has officially been added to Raven’s development Trello, where the issue was yet to otherwise be acknowledged.
It’s obviously a more complicated situation thanCall of Duty: Warzoneplayersclaiming there’s an issue and Raven immediately responding with an investigation. This issue in particular didn’t provide any specifics about the problem. All players knew was that something felt wonky and they weren’t getting the right XP. The causes for that could be myriad, or it could have beenCall of Duty: Warzone’s intended design. In other words, there’s likely a good reason that Raven took so long to acknowledge the problem.
Now that it has acknowledged the problem, however, it vindicates a lot ofCall of Duty: Warzoneplayers who felt likeRavenwasn’t acknowledging a bug that was very much wasting their time. Those players have spent a lot of time inCall of Duty: Warzonenot getting the right amount of XP. They’ll likely continue to do so as Raven starts investigating the problem.
The hope is that Raven took the previous month to figure out what the specific issue is withbattle pass progression inCall of Duty: Warzone. This update would then mean that it’s working on a fix. Of course, it’s also possible that it’s only just starting to investigate, and a fix could be weeks or months away. Whatever the answer, it’s a frustrating situation. At least players who haven’t been getting the right amount of XP know they were right, now. It wasn’t just their imagination.
Call of Duty: Warzoneis available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
