Season 4 ofCall of Duty: Warzonehas been delayed, and fans are unhappy. All thenew weapons leaked for Season 4are still far away, as are any new map developments. Players will have to make the most of whatWarzonealready has for the immediate future, but not all of what it has is good.

It is well known thatWarzonehas a bit of a problem with bugs. Since the game’s launch, there have been bugs in the game ranging from funny to frustrating. While these bugs and players harnessing them are certainly problematic, there are also major problems stemming from intentional design decisions.

One of the biggest sticking points for players at the moment is the inconsistent and often unfair power of melee. While bare hands and riot shields down players in five hits, hitting an enemy with a gun only takes two. Two hits to down is the same power level as the knife, the game’s dedicated close-range weapon. This means that while people debatethe strongest weapons inWarzone, the real strongest weapon in the game may be the butt of any given gun.

The power of melee weapons is well known among players, and many think that it is unbalanced at best. Not only is the melee rush strategy always viable, it also cheapens the scramble for weapons at the game’s start. It does not matter if a player finds a particularly good weapon early on if someone can run up and bonk them to death with any gun. This also makes the knife next to useless except for its speed. Combined with universal bonuses like thedistractingWarzonetracer rounds, players can set up colorful smokescreens and charge in easily.

To make matters worse, there is no one solution to the problem. Some players think the knife should be made more powerful, others think gun melee should be weaker. Until this gets fixed one way or another, gun melee will remain viable and probably annoying. ThoughActivision has its own advice for Duos, some of the advice best right now is probably “one of us distracts the enemy team, and the other runs up and hits them in the face”.
