One of the most important stats to watch in sci-fi RPGCitizen Sleeperis energy. It steadily depletes, and when it runs out the character’s condition will degrade at twice the normal rate, eventually resulting in their death. The most common way to restore depleted energy is by eating, but it isn’t the only way. Here are some alternative sources of energy inCitizen Sleeper.

The Basics Of Energy

Energy depletion should be avoided as much as possible, and thoughthe easiest way to restore energy inCitizen Sleeperis to eat,it isn’t the only option. The tutorial stresses the importance of eating but doesn’t make it clear how the player should actually get the food they need. Buying some food at Emphis’s Stall will restore three ticks off the energy bar, but subsequent visits carry a cost of 15 cryo, so players will want to know the alternatives.

It’s always easier to treat a minor problem before it develops into a major one, especially if this keeps the player fromsquandering money inCitizen Sleeper. For this reason, players looking to keep their energy up should avoid tasks that would hurt their energy in the first place. These have a rating of either “RISKY” or “DANGER.” “RISKY” tasks can cause energy loss if the character incurs a negative outcome, whereas “DANGER” tasks can result in energy loss if there is a neutral outcome. Being careful around such tasks is a good way to take care of their energy without the need for food.

How To Get More Energy

Skills and tasks can both boost energy, and the player should seek out those that do. The player can store a maximum of five energy stocks, and this number drops by two every cycle.A Stabilizer will restore lost condition inCitizen Sleeperbut costs 100 cryo a dose, which makes them a costly proposition, so the character is always better off not letting things get that far.

One of the best ways to restore energy without food is to upgrade the character’s Endure skill to earn the Photosynthetic Skin perk. With this perk, the character can gain energy at home by sunbathing, perhaps the easiest and most reliable way to restore besides eating.

It wouldn’t bea game for cyberpunk fanswithout a cyberpunk solution to problems. Photosynthetic Skin is the Extractor’s starting perk and the first on the Endure tree. It allows the player to spend a single die to recover energy at their home base. The amount of energy the player recovers varies, but the player is guaranteed to recover some.

Alternatively, the player can use the Thrill Seeker perk (part of the Engage tree), which gives the player the chance to recover energy on Engage tasks. Thrill Seeker doesn’t guarantee energy will be recovered though, making it a riskier proposition. Even so,Citizen Sleeperplayers are given the choiceof how to address the problem.
