It’s been a busy week for Hideo Kojima and his studio as itcelebrates a five year anniversary. To celebrate, Kojima Productions released a short video thanking its passionate fanbase and showing a cinematic collage of each one of its employees. The studio also released new merchandise in celebration of its anniversary as well as new wallpaper fans can decorate their computer backgrounds with featuring the studio’s mascot Ludens. However, the announcements apparently weren’t done there as Kojima Productions revealed even moreDeath Strandingcontent.
The latest collaboration is with CD Projekt RED who just released its latest game,Cyberpunk 2077. A short trailer forDeath Strandingreveals newCyberpunk 2077themed content in the game with the song Chippin' In by Samurai playing in the background. Starting with a wide shot that slowly zooms in, players see Sam Porter Bridges riding through theDeath Strandingworld.

However, the trailer manages to subtly reveal the new content in the game. The red motorbike Sam is riding resembles one taken off the streets in Night City complete with neon blue glows around the wheels. The trailer continues to zoom in and shows Sam’s left arm, which now appears to be outfitted in cybernetics that looksawfully close to the one Johnny Silverhand uses. Turning to face the camera, the trailer then shows what looks to be Johnny’s iconic aviator shades on Sam’s face.
The final reveal happens later when Sam is in one of his rest areas in the game, where players can spend some downtime recovering between missions or deliveries. After splashing water on his face, Sam lifts his head to reveal new cybernetic looking implants around his cheeks and eyes. The crossover event also adds new holograms, even more fashion items, as well as a new Hacking function that lets players do things like disable MULE sensor poles, stun enemies with Odradeks, and short circuit enemy vehicles.
As of right now, these items are only available in the PC version of the game and there’s no indication whether or not PS4 players will see the content arrive as well.
This isn’t the first brand content crossoverDeath Strandinghas seen. The game launched with a collaboration with Monster Energy, allowing Sam to grab a drink and restore some stamina while visiting a rest area between missions. Prior to its launch on PC earlier this year, Kojima Productions revealed newcross-over content with some of Valve’s major franchiseslikeHalf-LifeandPortal. Players who picked up a copy on Steam could come across bonus missions involving companion cubes and leading to Valve related rewards like Gordon Freeman Glasses, a wearable Half-Life headcrab, and more.
Death Strandingis out now on PC and PlayStation 4.
