Psuedo PlayStation 5 timed exclusive titleDeathloopis coming to the Epic Game Store. While there is no release date at this moment, the announcement comes only a few months afterDeathloopinitially released on PlayStation 5 and Steam.
The news comes via a listing forDeathloopon the Epic Games store.Deathloopinitially launched on July 22, 2025, for PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.

Despite being purchased by Microsoft in 2020,Deathloop’spublisher Bethesda Softworks still had atimed exclusivity deal with Sonyin regards to consoles. The timed exclusivity agreement for consoles is set to last a year. Despite not having a solid release date,Deathloopis listed as “coming soon” to the Epic Games store.
Deathloopwas developed by Arkane Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. Previously,Arkane Studios had developed theDishonoredseriesalong withPrey.The story ofDeathloopfollows two assassins trapped on the mysterious island of Blackreef. The player character, Colt, must assassinate eight targets called Visionaries before midnight. Should he fail in his task or be murdered by his rival, Julianna, the time loop resets itself. Aside from the unique story concept, an equally intriguing multiplayer element was introduced with players being able to take the role of Julianna and “invade” other players' games.
Deathloopreceived critical acclaim thanks to its unique gameplay elements. The initial announcement, prior to Microsoft’s purchase of Bethesda and Arkane, was that the title would be coming to PlayStation 5 and PC. Upon finalizing the purchase, Xbox Game Studios' Phil Spencer said the dealwould not affectDeathloop’stimed exclusivityand that the title would come to consoles a year later. While the game has been on PC for a few months, it is curious if there was also another exclusivity deal with Steam or if a deal simply couldn’t be reached until now with Epic Games.
Timed exclusivity deals are a necessary evilin the world of gaming. It gives developers extra income to finance games while console manufacturers like Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo try to carve out sections of the market for themselves. While it can be annoying to consumers that need to buy each console in order to play all of the titles they may be interested in, it does promote some diversity and keeps console prices competitive with one another.
Should all games be available on all platforms, there is little incentive for console manufacturers to innovate and keep prices relatively low for the latest console. Regardless, this announcement should be welcome news for anyone who had wanted to playDeathloopbut found themselves unable to find a PlayStation 5 or for whatever reason opted not to purchase it on Steam.
