Fashionable Guardians can rejoice because Bungie is bringing back Ada-1 inDestiny 2for armor transmog. In Season 14 ofDestiny 2, players will be able to speak to the Black Armory character to customize the look of their armor.

While a large part of the game is tailoring weapons, abilities, and mods, looks are also fairly important. Players can spend hoursgrinding for endgame armor lootto perfect a Guardian’s design. Not all pieces are created equal, and more often than not fans will have to prioritize mechanics over style. However, that is going to change once Ada-1 returns to the Tower with a new transmog system.

Once the option becomes available, Guardians will be able to speak to Ada-1 to begin the “armor synthesis” function. What this will do is take any armor piece in a player’s collection and turn it into a universal ornament. Typically ornaments come from engrams orsaving up Bright Dust for Eververse, but now Guardians can have control. Utilizing armor synthesis will require players to grind bounties from Ada-1. As these missions complete, her Loom will power up and allow a piece to be converted, and players can use Silver to acquire Synthesis materials faster.

To go along with this update, Bungie is also changing up the appearance screen to be more user friendly. All the ornaments are available here, and shaders appear in the same screen too. Especially exciting is the switch to making shaders into permanent unlockables, which means Guardians will no longer need spend25 years deleting individual shader stacks. Those who complete the Seasonal onboarding quest will automatically get a supply of Synthesis materials to kick off the process.

This is a system that many Destiny fans will have been waiting years for. Having to pick an ugly piece of armor simply because thearmor set is better for PvPmay no longer be a problem. This is especially important since armor can be useless in new seasons and expansions. With certain gear tied behind difficult raids or hours of grinding, it is great that players will not have to discard it in the long run.

Some may be disappointed to find out that there is still a grind behind the new system. While completing bounties is not the most strenuous activity, it does seem like a way to encourage buying more Silver. It also means it could take time to transmog multiple pieces, something that could discourage interest in Synthesis. In any case, those looking to keep a unique design will be happy to jump into the new system when it comes out.
