Because much of theDestiny 2seasonal content is incremental, the optimal way of experiencing it is as the live service is updated, but players have noticed that the seasonal story has a glaring flaw if they skip a week or more of playing. EveryDestiny 2season has its unique content offerings and weapons are nerfed and buffed accordingly, but the seasonal stories can be strange if players put the game down for a bit.

Lightfall launched in February, and like with theDestiny 2expansion DLC before it, it introduced many changes to the Bungie FPS, including a fresh storyline. Within the overallDestiny 2Lightfallarc, players can expect a few seasons with their own offerings and a battle pass, with the current one being called the Season of Defiance. Each week ofDestiny 2’s Season of Defiance, a new part of the ongoingDestiny 2story is dropped, but if players don’t check it out right away, things get a little strange.

Reddit user Reicomatricks has garnered 3,000 upvotes on a post in which they highlight some absurdities with theDestiny 2Season of Defiance storyline so far. According to Reicomatricks, doing thisDestiny 2content all at once results in some strange running around, first meeting with Devrim Kay at The Farm, then Mara Sov at The Helm, even though she’s standing near Kay at The Farm. The quests then send players to The Farm to be debriefed by Amanda Holliday before having to go to The Helm to have a different conversation with the same NPC.

Because Bungie may expect players to progress through the Season of Defiance story as the content is added, the fans that are late to the party end up running around a lot less naturally than they could have otherwise. While these players move from one location to another to catch up on the storyline, others are experimenting with the newDestiny 2Strand subclass, delving into the adjusted Crucible PvP, or challenging themselves with the Lightfall raid.

Given that there are still several weeks left intheDestiny 2Season of Defiancestoryline, players that have yet to experience the content towards the end of it may have even more wandering to do to be debriefed on the ongoing narrative. AsDestiny 2’s Farm and The Helm are both prominent locations in the Season of Defiance’s story so far, it’s possible that players will return to these locations again in future weekly drops.

Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
