The yearly Solstice event forDestiny 2is back, giving players plenty of time to farm for perfectly-rolled armor pieces to round out their builds with. Not only do the new armor sets look spiffy, but they’ve got the same reroll mechanic from last year’s Solstice run that lets players tune every individual piece to match their needs.

As with everything inDestiny 2, Solstice 2023 will have Guardians grinding for their ideal gear drops. Luckily, this event isn’t hard at all, and there are some shortcuts that players can take to make the farming a little less tedious.

Farming the Solstice Event

Before players can start grinding the event, they’ll need to visit Eva Levante at the Tower to get a complete set of Solstice armor. This will also kick off a short chain of quests covering the basics of the event.

The steps for farming this event here are pretty much the same as last year’s in terms of how to get Silver Leaves, loot, and other important currencies:

Silver Leaves are obtained by completing any activity (except Bonfire Bash) while wearingthe new Solstice armor. Players only need to equip one piece of Solstice armor in order to gain Silver Leaves upon activity completion.

Strikes as well as Gambit and Crucible matches award generous amounts of Silver Leaves when completed. Public Events also reward this currency, but even heroic completions only give up to four leaves.

The fastest way to get Silver Leaves is to do the first mission of theLightfallcampaign and save the checkpoint in the part where players need to interact with drop pods to reach Neomuna. The checkpoint in the “The Investigation” mission of theWitch Queencampaign is also a viable option for earning Silver Leaves.

To convert Silver Leaves into Silver Ash, players need to complete Bonfire Bash. It’s a short, arena-style combat mission where Guardians need to rekindle the giant bonfire in the middle of the map by throwing Igniters at it. Igniters are dropped by Ignition Carriers, marked yellow-bar enemies that periodically spawn all over the European Aerial Zone.

Players have a limited amount of time to throw as many Igniters as they can before a boss monster spawns in. Up to 30 Igniters can be thrown into the bonfire. Occasionally, Taken will occasionally spawn in to interrupt players — take them out to resume the rekindling process. Much oflast year’s Solstice farming stratswill still work this year.

After defeating the boss, the bonfire will spew out loot, including Solstice 2023 armor pieces with randomly-rolled stats as well as the Something New Hand Cannon and the Crowning Duologue,Destiny 2’sfirst Strand Rocket launcher.

Silver Ash can be spent to reroll armor by interacting with the dedicated Embers slot in the armor piece’s list of mod slots. Players need to apply Kindling (which are obtained by completing Event Challenges) to their armor before they can be rerolled.

Destiny 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
