Arc System Works reveals that its newest fighting game,DNF Duel, will be getting both a Season Pass and Switch in 2023. The developer specializes in anime based fighters such asDragon Ball FighterZ,Melty Blood: Type Lumina, andmore. This year was quite busy for Arc System Works, juggling the release ofGuilty Gear Strive’s DLC charactersand cross-play, but also the release ofDNF Duelthis past June. A much lower key release than other games from the lineup,DNF Duelstill received generally favorable reviews from critics, praising the developer’s translation of the characters from an MMO setting to a fighting game.WhileDNF Duelhasn’t exactly been a big mainstream hit, it still has a strong cult following. It was even among the candidates of the pastThe Game Awards Fighting Game category, though it ended up losing out toMultiVersus. The game is still going to be supported by Arc System Works, as evidenced by both an upcoming Switch port and Season Pass, which will add five additional characters.RELATED:Arc System Works Teases Next Guilty Gear Strive DLC Character Release DateThe Switch port forDNF Duelwas revealed earlier this month through a new trailer, showing the appeal of taking this fighting game on the go and being able to play at any moment. This was followed by a brief showcase ofDNF Duel’s characters, demonstrating their moves and combos. The release date and box art of the port was also announced. It will arrive on April 20 next year.
As for the season pass, it will also be coming in 2023, though no specific release date has been revealed yet. The official Twitter account however shows off the firstDLC character ofDNF Duel’s Season Pass, which will be a fighter based on the Spectre class. Much like the Ghostblade class in the base roster, it seems she will wield a katana and will have a unique offensive gimmick.
The game recently released a new balance patch that tweaked a lot ofDNF Duel’s roster, including buffing a number of characters. For gamers interested in this new fighting game, the Steam Winter Sale has a deal going on forDNF Duelthat gives the game a 50% price cut. The same deal can be found on the PlayStation Store. Hopefully these deals will give gamers a chance to check out a more understated fighting game that was released this year.
DNF Duelis available now on PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch port will be released on Jul 05, 2025.
