A fresh Marvel Cinematic Universe rumor seems to suggest that a newDoctor Strangespinoff series based on theStrange Academycomic books is on its way to Disney Plus, with none other than everyone’s favorite Sorcerer Supreme Wong at the forefront. Not only that, but the show may even feature a few other returning MCU stars who fans have grown to love.
While it’s only a rumor, this newDoctor Strangespinoff series will reportedly offer a look at a learning institution to help new magic users hone their skills. Unlike the more intensive trainingBenedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strangehimself took on, this appears to be a bit more official and focused on a legitimate academic setting. It looks like anybody who just so happens to be searching for a story about a magical school without problematic origins may now have a beacon of hope to focus on.

This rumor hails from theMarvel Studios Spoilers subredditas part of a regular info dump offering scoops on upcoming projects. According to the poster, who claims to have “trusted sources,” the new series will feature Benedict Wong’s fan-favorite Wong character, likely in a leading role. Alongside him will beXochitl Gomez’s America Chavez, who recently made her debut inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. This makes sense, particularly given her rather incredible Multiverse-jumping powers shown in that movie. Seeing how theDoctor Strange 2ending saw her sticking around to study the mystic arts, the rumor appears even more plausible.
Aside from America Chavez, the post also alleges that the currently unnamedStrange Academy-inspired series will feature Zelma Stanton, who is reportedly set to debut in theupcoming Disney Plus seriesIronheart. While nothing has been confirmed on that front, it’s been heavily hinted that not only will the character appear inIronheart, but thatBF for Hirestar Regan Aliyah will allegedly play the part. In the comics, Zelma is an ally of Doctor Strange, so another connection makes sense.
The prospect of a magical school is already a provably enticing one. So adding a beloved character like Wong to the mix for a story like that almost seems like a no-brainer. He’s been making appearances in several Marvel Studios movies and shows over the past few years, with his part inShang-Chiand a memorable run onShe-Hulkstill firmly planted in fans' minds.Wong the actor has even mentioned an interest in a solo MCU series. So the stars appear to be swiftly aligning.
Once again, this is only a rumor with no official confirmation even hinted. It’s even just one part of a slew of rumors listed, including mentions of an upcomingWorld War Hulkmovie and a hint atHarrison Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross becoming Red Hulk. So even though it all sounds plausible, it’s worth taking with a grain of salt. This is a lot of info to parse, so be sure to stay hydrated with all that sodium intake.
