Just when the first-person shooter genre needed a new game, 343 Industries answered with the unexpected launch of the multiplayer forHalo Infinite. Unsurprisingly, the game has done extremely well in the almost 2 weeks it has been playable, becoming thetop free-to-play title on the Microsoft Store. While many have praised the gameplay as a return to form for the series, not everything has been smooth sailing.
Unfortunately, it seems that cheaters andhackers have started to infiltrateHalo Infinitefollowing the release of the multiplayer beta. Over the past few days, many players, including several eSports professionals, have reported that they had encountered cheaters using aimbot. This has led some to ask for the developer to add the option to opt-out of crossplay. Amidst these growing concerns from the community, YouTube streamer Dr Disrespect has offered his opinion on the matter.

In a recent tweet, Dr Disrespect gave his prognosis forHalo Infiniteif the cheating is not addressed soon. According to the Doc, 343 Industries must get control over the situation, or else the cheating could spiral out of control. When discussing the problem, he brought upCall of Duty: Warzone, a battle royale that he frequently plays and often hates. Since that game was released last year, it has been plagued with cheaters. The streamer said that the problem became so bad in the battle royale that people began to question everything because it could involve a cheater. According to the Doc, the situation turned into a “huge hackusation movement” that “nobody wants.”
Following this warning aboutthe future of theHalo Infinite, the Doc implored the developer to fix the problem. While the content creator had been critical of the game in the last couple of weeks, he admitted that he enjoyed playing and streaming the gameplay. “It’s such a good game,” he said. It seemed that he didn’t want the title to suffer the same fate asWarzone.
While Dr Disrespect is known to complain about all sorts of issues, he wasn’t alone when it came to concerns about cheaters and hackers inHalo Infinite. Following this tweet, popular streamer Douglas “DougisRaw” Wolf seconded the Doc’s fears about cheaters. DougisRaw stated that he didn’t want to play another competitive game where people are forced to constantly second-guess each other.
Sadly, this isn’t the only issue frustrating players. Besides these problems impacting the competitive integrity of the multiplayer, 343 Industries is facing mounting pressure to changethe way cosmetics are unlocked inHalo Infinite. It will be interesting to see how the company looks to solve these pressing issues moving forward. Hopefully, for fans of the game, the developers can find solutions to these problems that satisfy the community.
