One of Boon’s latest tweets was discussing the latest patch for the game that is going toaddressMortal Kombat 1’s Player 1 advantage bug, which has been delayed into early next week. The tweet also included a hint at the end of his message, which incorporates the words “Next,” “Yield,” “Cwik,” and “Corrections” in separate lines. The capitalized letters spell out NYCC, which many pieced to stand for New York Comic-Con. This year’s event will be taking place from October 12-15, and though it is comic book-based like its name suggests, other forms of media often appear.
A hint like this immediately drove speculation, with many theorizing that some sort of gameplay reveal was going to happen at the event. The one many believed that Boon was hinting at was related toOmni-Man’s appearance inMortal Kombat 1, considering he is the first DLC character for the game. This was quickly dispelled by Boon himself, however, when he specifically stated that Omni-Man’s gameplay trailer would not be at the upcoming comic convention. The wording doesn’t say that Omni-Man won’t be present at all, such as showing a pre-fight intro or a cutscene involving him. Regardless, fans should temper their expectations just in case the character doesn’t appear at the show.
Ed Boon also recently teased whatMortal Kombat 1DLC characterscould be added, where he posted an image regarding various horror icons like Freddy Kruger, Jason Vorhees, and Ghostface, the last one being a highly requested fighter for the series.MKfans will need to wait and see what Boon’s comment refers to when the event takes place later this October.
Mortal Kombat 1is available now for PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X/S.
