The notoriously difficult games developed by FromSoftware have often been known for dishing out frustrating levels of punishment to the player through grueling boss fights and even tough combat caused by roaming dogs and rats.Elden Ringis no different to other FromSoftware games in this regard, as again the game introduces some incredibly difficult bosses, such as Malenia, Blade of Miquella.

For some, the difficulty of FromSoftware games is enough to turn them away from the franchise. This has led to some hotly debated topics online regarding whether the games should include “easy modes” in order to allow for a greater player base. Those who are infavor of easy modes in games likeDark Souls,Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, andElden Ringoften believe that allowing difficulty sliders in the game will make them more accessible for those with disabilities and allow for a wider audience to enjoy them. On the other hand, often the fans of these franchises enjoy the difficulty involved, wearing the fact that they defeated the game as a badge of gaming honor.

For those who do want an easier time playingElden Ringor for a player who wants to streamline the increasingdifficulty of the New Game+ mode, there are mods that can lessen the game’s difficulty somewhat. These mods do not leave the player with a “god mode” enabled, but they can give some useful support thatElden Ringdoes not give the player by itself. The first of these mods allows for regen when a player kills an enemy. This mod can regenerate one of the three bars a player uses, or all three, depending on the settings chosen. This is similar to the “Breath of Life: Shadow” skill found inSekiro: Shadows Die Twice.

The other mods to makeElden Ringeasier concern Runes, the in-game currency the player uses. Similar to the souls found in theDark Soulsfranchise, it can be incredibly frustrating to lose Runes inElden Ring,so one mod is looking to change how Runes work, while another seeks simply to give the player 99 million Runes upon starting the game. The former of these mods gives the player no death penalty, so they can always hang onto their Runes.

Mods aren’t necessary for players to get a good amount of Runes though, as there are plenty ofRune farming methods inElden Ringthat have been pointed out by both players and streamers. Whether an “easy mode” should be inElden Ringor not, it is more than likely mods will give players some form of extra advantage that the game will not.
