This weekend featured a major game release on Steam.Horizon Zero Dawn, one of the biggest game releases on the PlayStation 4, had its PC port released on Friday. It’s the first major PS4 exclusive both developed and published by Sony to come to PC this generation and expectations for its release have been high. Only, much to everyone’s surprise,Horizon Zero Dawnhasn’t been the most popular release of the weekend. Instead,Horizon Zero Dawnwas outmatched byFall Guys.

In its Weekly Top Sellers list, Steam has declaredFall Guysthe winner, thoughHorizon Zero Dawnhas nothing to be ashamed of, of course, as it was listed in second place on Steam’s Weekly Top Sellers list. Then, funnily enough,Fall Guysis listed again in the fifth position for the week, likely denoting sales forFall Guys' Collectors Editionwhereas first place is for the standard edition. It’s certainly something both Devolver Digital and Mediatonic can be especially proud of.

Fall Guysremains in the first position on Steam’s dynamic list of Global Top Sellers list, whereas the Weekly list is a once-a-week list published on Sundays. It just goes to show thatFall Guysis still selling especially well and that this isn’t just a ranking based onFall Guysbeing available on Steamfor that much longer thanHorizon: Zero Dawn.

That’s not to say thatHorizon Zero Dawnisn’t proving to be a success story on Steam, of course, it’s just thatFall Guyshas an incredible amount of support that’s only grown going into this weekend. Perhaps if the PC port had launched alongsideHorizon Zero Dawn’s PS4 launch, they’d be more comparable. As it is, however,Fall Guys' PC sales are bein invigorated by its availability as a game included with PS4 gamers' PlayStation Plus subscriptions.

For a more direct comparison, GitHyp’s Steam player tracker hasFall Guyspeaking at 123,000 concurrent playersas of Saturday morning. That’s almost double the number it saw on its launch day of August 4.Horizon Zero Dawnreached over 50,000 players when it launched on Friday and is continuing to hold those numbers at its peaks through the weekend. That’s still a very impressive number, especially for a single-player game, butFall Guysis clearly finding a special level of success.

In the longterm, both games are certain to be considered successes.Fall Guyshas a bright futureahead of it. And hopefully,Horizon Zero Dawn’s success on PC leads to other Sony first-party games coming to the platform as well.
