New cast members have been announced for the upcomingFalloutTV series. Kyle MacLachlan, Xelia Mendes-Jones, and Aaron Moten are the latest additions to Amazon’s new showbased on the popular video game franchise. TheFalloutTV series, based on the legendary post-apocalyptic role-playing games by Bethesda Softworks, was first announced back in July 2020 — a time when the nuclear wasteland sounded like a refreshing change of pace. In January 2022 the show went ahead in full force, and since then we’ve had consistent news of new additions to the cast and crew.
The latest of these announcements is a list of three new names added to the cast. The biggest name, Kyle MacLachlan, is best known for his work with David Lynch inTwin Peaks(1990-1991, 2017),Blue Velvet(1986), andDune(1984), as well as comedy seriesPortlandia(2011-2018) and the Marvel showAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D.(2014-2015).

Xelia Mendes-Jones is a new face, having only recently graduated from acting school, per Variety. However, they will appear in director Gareth Evans’ upcoming action thriller for Netflix,Havoc(2022). The final addition to the cast is Aaron Moten, who had a prominent role in this year’sFather Stuas well as several TV series in past years, including inDisjointedalongside Kathy Bates.
There’s no word yet on what roles the new additions will play in theFalloutseries. However, they will join the previously announced Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets) and Walton Goggins (Django Unchained,The Hateful Eight), who will reportedly fill leading roles. As the series is still so early in production, not much is known about it except the fact that it will be helmed byWestworldcreatorsJonathan Nolan (The Prestige,The Dark Knight,Interstellar) and Lisa Joy (Pushing Daisies,Burn Notice).
Good video game adaptations are notoriously rare, butFalloutdoes at least appear to be in capable hands with Nolan and Joy. Steaming giant Amazon, who is producing the series, also tends to be a reliable source of prestige content, and has been getting positive attention lately for its other major TV adaptation,Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Video game adaptation jitters aside, theFalloutseries at least has hope, with the new stars perhaps adding a bit more. And withFallout 5still potentially a decade away, fans of Fallout might just need something to kill the time anyway.
