A well-knownWorld of Warcraftplayer encountered a hilarious problem while trying to join a cross-faction guild. Though players of bothWorld of Warcraftfactions can join the same guild as of Patch 10.1, this player’s unique circumstance prevents him from doing so.Neutralagent is a legendaryWorld of Warcraftplayer who became famous for reaching max level with a Pandaren character without leaving the Wandering Isle starting area or joining a faction. Since he began inMists of Pandaria,Neutralagent has returned everyWorld of Warcraftexpansionto repeat his feat, despite being unable to participate in most parts of the game with the character.RELATED:World of Warcraft: New World Boss Has an Awkward Shadowlands ConnectionWith the advent ofcross-faction guilds inEmbers of Neltharion, Neutralagent has discovered another hilarious bump in his journey.World of Warcraftplayers can invite members of the opposite faction to their guild as long as they are friends or a part of the same community. However, it seems unaffiliated characters, like Neutralagent’s neutral Pandaren Shaman Doubleagent, can’t be invited to a guild, even by their friends.

Curiosity caused him to actually send a ticket to Blizzard inquiring further about the situation. According to theWorld of Warcraftsupport team, the game does not internally recognize neutral as a faction, despite Battle.net listing it as one for these characters. This means the cross-faction guild system doesn’t work for neutral characters–and likely never will.

Luckily, this particular drawback will only affect a few players. The only neutral races inWorld of Warcraftare Dracthyrand Pandaren–and that only lasts until they finish their starting experiences. Most players go on to join a faction not long after creating their character, giving them access to guilds, transmogs, dungeons, and the other aspects of the game. Only Neutralagent and players undergoing self-enforced leveling challenges inWorld of Warcraftare truly affected by this.

Neutralagent and other fans of the Pandaren inWorld of Warcraftwere recently happy to learn they could soon make Warlocks of their favorite race. The demon-summoning class is being opened to every playable race inWorld of Warcraftin Patch 10.1.5. Players have a few questions about how some of thesenew Warlock race and class combos inWorld of Warcraftwill work, but they are generally excited about the update. If Druid, Paladin, and Shaman follow suit in the future, and Dracthyr are eventually able to pick other classes, Demon Hunter and Evoker would be the only ones with racial restrictions left in the game.
