Two games beloved by fans looking for a relaxing, laid-back experience are farming simulatorStardew Valleyand island life simulatorAnimal Crossing: New Horizons. The two games have frequently drawn comparison, especially since the addition of farming toNew Horizonsand the launch ofStardew Valley’smore adventure-focused Version 1.5 update, which allows players to explore a tropical island similar toAnimal Crossing’ssetting. These updates have caused many fans of one game to purchase and play the other.

A popular gameplay element ofStardew Valleyis the ability to build andpurchase furniture, flooring, and other accessories to decorate and customize indoor spaces. In addition to the farmhouse where the player and their in-game family live,Stardewfans can build any number of customizable Sheds on their property. OneStardew Valleyplayer, going by u/ChillWithSadDad on Reddit, decided to use the game’s many decoration and customization options to recreate a favorite location fromNew Horizons:The Roost, a cozy cafe run by the pigeon Brewster. The finished product features armchairs, tables, stools, a long countertop, and even a jukebox, all in a relaxing brown and green color scheme. The replica cafe even has food and drinks - plates of pancakes and cups of coffee and green tea are scattered around the room. One Reddit commenter suggested adding bottles of milk to representBrewster’s famous pigeon milk drink, which u/ChillWithSadDad agreed to do.

After receiving several questions from commenters, u/ChillWithSadDad happily shared the list of furniture and decorative items they used to create The Roost. Unfortunately, their setup did require the installation of several mods. Some were required to add nautical-themed textures and wall decorations, while another was needed to duplicate the Coffee Maker item. This mod, which was recently used by a player togive themselves 25 dogs, was needed because the Coffee Maker is a limited item that players can receive only once, upon completing a request by Pelican Town resident Evelyn to collect one dozen leeks.

This is not the first time aStardew Valleyfan has created a tribute or shout-out to other pieces of media. Some fans have even shared their love forStardew Valleyusing other similarly creative and customizable games, such as the player whorecreated Willy’s Fishing Hut and the in-game beach area inMinecraft. The breadth of available creative opportunities have keptStardewfans engaged even with no new content updates predicted for the future, as creator Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone is currently working on a new title,Haunted Chocolatier,to be released at a later unspecified date.

Stardew Valleyis currently available for Android, iOS, macOS, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
