Roughly a week followingtheFIFA 23reveal trailer, EA released a new gameplay trailer that gives a detailed explanation into the game’s features. EA’s HyperMotion2 introduces machine learning and millions of new animation frames to improve responsiveness, create new gameplay mechanics, and reinforce a world-class football experience.FIFA 23’sTechnical Dribbling system is powered by HyperMotion2’s machine learning, which enhances movement while dribbling the ball on the pitch. Additionally, new animations allow Technical Dribbling to appear dynamic and authentic during gameplay. The trailer demonstrates Technical Dribbling through the use of the controller’s left stick, working in tandem with the Active Touch System.
As shown in the gameplay trailer, ML-Jockey is another new HyperMotion2 feature made forFIFA 23. ML-Jockey gives players more defensive options while pursuing attackers on the opposing team and provides a counter to Technical Dribbling. Jockeying is linked to the controller’s left trigger, andFIFA 23’sML-Jockey improves positioning, sprinting, and overall movement while defending. For instance, a Jockeying player may turn at more precise angles to cut off an attacker’s run with the ball. The Defensive Awareness attribute of a player will determine the effectiveness of Jockeying.
Fortunately, all the new features present in HyperMotion2 apply for women’s club football inFIFA 23. Women’s football is a major highlight ofFIFA 23with new movements, star signature run styles, and women-only animations captured in Advanced Match Capture. The new trailer ensures that facets of gameplay inFIFA 23such as attacking, defending, skill moves, and goalkeeping are greatly improved. Most importantly,FIFA’s wealth of in-game clubs and teamsmay benefit from the improvements made forFIFA 23.
However, the benefits of HyperMotion2 are exclusive to the PC, PS5, Stadia, Xbox Series X|S versions ofFIFA 23. AsEA transitions into theEA Sports FCseriesin 2023, more new features will likely be exclusive to the newest consoles and PC.
