There is nothing quite as annoying for players as realizing that they have progressed too far and have locked themselves off from accessing certain items and content. InFinal Fantasy 16, players will be happy to hear that there are only a few items that they can prevent themselves from obtaining due to the ability to replay missions.

However, there are some items that they may miss while exploringthe vast world of Valisthea. These items can be extremely useful, and so players will want to make sure they grab each one during their playthrough.
Updated on August 29th, 2023, by Aldous Foster:Final Fantasy has seen a number of important missable items over the years, and although the latest addition to the franchise has considerably fewer missable items than some of the other games in the series, there are still a number of important things players will not want to miss out on.
Not all important missable items are weapons or armor; players will also want to look for mounts and money to make their playthrough of the game as enjoyable as possible. Acquiring some of these items requires the player to scour the map, and though the search can take time, it’s usually worth the effort.
9Treasure Map & One Man’s Treasure
Players looking to earn some Gil may want to have a look at this hidden chest. Although there are several ways to earn Gil, this method is quick andrewards Clive with 100,000 Gilin exchange for a bit of exploration. It can be found once the player reaches the Kingdom of Waloed. At the northwest edge of the map near the Great Southern Gate will be some enemies and a corpse next to an item.
This item is theTreasure Mapwhich leads the player to The Dhalmekian Republic. On the southern path, near Titan’s Wake, there will be some more enemies and a camp with a chest. This chest will reward the player with an item called"One Man’s Treasure,“which has a value of 100,000 Gil if sold to a merchant.
8Ring Of The Demolitionist
Magic Burst is a strong source of damage that can be activated after certain attacks. It can be a very powerful addition to the player’s arsenal, especially if used correctly. The Ring of the Demolitionist is a great accessory for players looking to make the most out of magic burst attacks, as it increases the damage dealt by 15%.
The ring can be found by traveling to Titan’s Wake in The Dhalmekian Republic. After heading directly north through a narrow part of the map the player will come to a clearing with a Fallen Guardian and a Defensive Node. Once they are defeated the nearby floating chest can be looted to obtain the Ring of the Demolitionist.
7Demontamer’s Sache
The Demontamer’s Sache is a rare belt with decent defensive stats that the player may want to hunt down. To get their hands on it, players will want to head to the Royal Meadows in The Royal Empire of Sanbreque. After heading north to Baywatch, the player will find this chest and some enemies.

Strangely, there seems to be another location where some players have reported finding the Demontamer’s Sache. The other way to get this belt is to head to The Gran Duchy of Rosaria. In The Audhyl Docks, there is a shed with a chest inside near the water. Either way, it’s a decent item that can help keep players alive during their travels.
6Ouroboros
When players get toward the end of the game they will want to be careful about selling crafting ingredients, as some are rare, and Clive will not be able to craft the best items in the game without them. One such missable item is the Ouroboros belt. With 95 Defense and 32 Health, it is arguably one of the best belts in the game.
To get it, players will need to complete the third quest in the"Blacksmith’s Blues” Quest chain. This will grant them the crafting design draft. They will then want to grab a Stone Tongue, a Comet Feather, and a piece of Orichalcum.Orichalcum can be obtainedthrough several Notorious Mark Hunts and the Tongue and Feather can be obtained from the Agni and Dread Comet Hunts. With their ingredients and the draft, players can then make this excellent item.
5Coral Sword
Some of the missable items inFinal Fantasy 16, such as theCuriosities, are not massively impactful on the player’s experience with the game. The swords that they can miss, however, are very strong and can make a big difference in combat. One weapon players will want to pick up is the Coral Sword.

This rare sword can be obtained duringThe Crystal’s Curse Main Questafter defeating the Akashic Champion. Nearby, there is a wooden barrier that can be broken down to reveal a path. Heading to the right of the metal grate will lead the player to the chest containing the Coral Sword. With 185 Attack and Stagger, this beautiful sword is certainly worth picking up.
4Ancient Sword
The best way to improve players' combat effectiveness, other thanequipping the timely accessories, is to upgrade the sword they are using. The Ancient Sword is an excellent weapon with a respectable 252 Attack and Stagger and is found in a chest in the region of The Dhalmekian Republic.
To find it, players will want to head toThe Steps of the Forgotten. On the ground, between Mekith and Laetny’s Hoard, is the chest containing the Ancient Sword.
3Masamune
This weapon is a staple of theFinal Fantasyfranchise, having shown up in almost every entry in the series. It has also consistently been a good weapon, and it lives up to that reputation inFinal Fantasy 16with 310 Attack and Stagger. It also has a rather unique model, as it looks like a large katana.

This legendary weapon can be found in The Kingdom of Waloed by heading to the small path south of The Angry Gap. After defeating some enemies and opening the nearby chest, players can then equip Masamune. With great stats and a unique look, it is not a weapon that players will want to ignore.
2The Chocobo Mount
Chocobos are a staple of theFinal Fantasyfranchise and an excellent way of moving around the map. Although there are a number of Chocobos around each area ofFinal Fantasy 16,Clive is only able to ride one of them. To get this Chocobo, players will need to progress the main quest until’The Gathering Storm,‘which will see the player head through Rosaria and attempt to rescue Martha. In Martha’s Rest, a side quest will become available called’The White-Winged Wonder.’
This quest will see the player searching for a mysterious white Chocobo that has been sighted nearby. After following some tracks and defeating some bandits and a Huntsman, the player will realize that the Chocobo is Ambrosia, Clive’s faithful companion from the prologue. With this quest completed, Clive will be able to summon Ambrosia and mount her, allowing for a faster traveling experience. This is a massive quality-of-life improvement, as it saves players vast amounts of time running around the map, especially if they are looking for easily missable items.
1Gotterdammerung
The most powerful sword that players can get their hands on during their first playthrough ofFinal Fantasy 16is Gotterdammerung. Aside from its strange name and unique look, it stands out with its 375 Attack and Stagger. However, it also requires some very rare crafting ingredients that players will not want to sell, as doing so will prevent them from forging the weapon.
To get Gotterdammerung and the trophy that comes with it, players will need to complete theBlacksmith’s Blues quest line. This will grant them the Design Draft and the Ragnarok Sword. They will then need to collect three pieces of Orichalcum, twopieces of Darksteel, and a Primitive Battlehorn. These are all accessible from different Notorious Marks, with Darksteel coming from Thanatos and The Prince of Death, and the Primitive Battlehorn coming from the Gobermouch. With all their ingredients, players will then be able to craft the best weapon in the entire game, excluding weaponsunique to New Game+.
