As a series,Final Fantasyhas come a long way since it first came out back in 1987. Since then,Final Fantasygameshave been on numerous consolesand even on PC. As time has gone on, the graphics and even the gameplay have changed. Two of the main entries in theFinal Fantasyseries were even MMOs. Over the years,Final Fantasyhas become progressively more accessible to all sorts of players.
Skill level across the player base will, naturally, vary. So it only makes sense that Square Enix would want to cater to all players regardless of their skill or preference for difficulty in games. This is whyFinal Fantasy 16has a difficulty option, and players are wondering which is the right one to choose.

How Many Difficulties are There in Final Fantasy 16?
At the start, players have access to two difficulties. The first is Story Mode and the second one is Action Mode.Story Mode eases up on the action and allows players to just enjoy the story if they prefer. Action Mode is a much more demanding experience intended for players who are familiar and comfortable with action games.
But there are additional difficulties inFinal Fantasy 16. Once players beat the game on either difficulty, they will unlock New Game+ which gives theman option for an additional difficultyknown as Final Fantasy Mode. This third difficulty is apparently much harder than Action Mode and will make enemies significantly harder, which can be an ideal challenge for players who would otherwise already know what to expect as they begin a second run through the game. Beyond thatthere are no plansto add any other difficulties or content.

Story Mode Accessories
From the get go, Story Mode is significantly more forgiving than Action Mode. Players take significantly less damage and there is a great deal of room for error. In addition to that, starting a save file in Story Mode will grantFinal Fantasy 16players a series of accessories that are equipped to Clive by default. These accessories are rings that automate certain actions that will make the game easier.
For example, there is a ring that will allow players to automatically dodge attacks. Another ring will allow players to execute complex combos with just a button push. There is also a ring that will automatically heal players if their health goes below a certain point. In Action Mode, players will need tomake the most of their abilitiesto overcome the challenges that await them.

Should You Choose Action Mode or Story Mode?
This isentirely up to the preference of players. If players prefer to focus on story, they should go with Story Mode. But if they want a challenge, they should go with Action Mode first. There is no content in the game that is locked behind difficulty choice, so players that choose Story Mode will not miss out on anything.
One important detail for players to know is that unlike some games, players can change the difficulty inFinal Fantasy 16at any point. In the settings menu, there is an option to change difficulty as depicted in the image above. So players will not have to start the game all over again if they find Action Mode to be too difficult for their liking.
Final Fantasy XVIreleases on June 22nd for the PS5.
