It’s been sort of a rollercoaster ride for manyFortniteplayers these last few months as the fanbase has experienced plenty of ups and downs.Deadpool and the special X-Force skinshave proven to be another successful crossover, joining the likes of Thanos, John Wick, Batman, and a ton of others. For all that good, there’s been some unrest with the community over the direction the game has taken, though a new leak may shed some light on what Epic plans to do to win some goodwill back.
Since the Battle Royale part ofFortnitelaunched back in 2017, it has evolved considerably with new gameplay mechanics, weapons, items, and even the map. These substantial changes have seemingly caused some players to long for a return to the original game and its more simplistic ways. While that isn’t likely to happen anytime soon, Epic appears to be readying a few nostalgic weapons to make their long awaited return.

According to the FortOfFans Twitter account, Epic Games has seemingly re-added some classic weapons into different rarities. The datamine shows theMinigun and Heavy Sniper Rifleclassified as Rare weapons, while the Semi-Auto Sniper Rifle has been set as a legendary weapon. It’s unknown in what capacity these weapons will be returning, as FortOfFans is speculating that the two rare weapons may be for henchmens while the legendary will actually be unvaulted.
It’s also possible that the trio of classic weapons will be added to a special Limited Time Mode, such as the previously leaked Spy Games event. Regardless, most agree that these weapons likely won’t be around permanently.
While these weapons are a fun nod to the game’s past, Epic may have to do more if it intends to keep the fanbase happy. Earlier this month, the hashtagRIPFortnite started trendingon Twitter from players who were upset with the direction the game has been moving. Some fan complaints stem from server stability issues like lag as well as the skill-based matchmaking making matches feel more sweaty than they used to be. Others have been less than enthused with how quite Epic Games has become and its lack of communication with fans.
