Epic Games' battle royaleFortniteplanned on removing its “Legacy Look Controls,“an aim-assist system meant to help players using controllers for the cross-platform title versus a more precise mouse and keyboard, on March 13. However after a 7-day countdown to the change in-game, the developers decided not to move forward with the removal just yet.
This halt was announced by theFortniteStatus Twitter account yesterday with a message saying Legacy Look Controls will remain enabled “for a short time longer.” The account promises to provide an update when the setting is removed, but confirms that the improved system meant to replace those aim-assist controls is available and can be activated while maintaining each player’s previous controller sensitivity settings.

No official explanation has been given for the delayed feature implementation on Twitter, and the most recent news post onFortnite’s website as of this writing is a status report about incoming features from March 9. For now fans of the battle royale will have to keep taking part in thewar between the Shadow and Ghost spy factionswith legacy aim-assist active.
That ongoing battle is the main draw ofFortnite’s current content releases, as players can earn rare weapons by taking part in multi-step events within each game that involve NPC enemies like the Henchmen. A bevy ofspecial skins based on the competing Ghost and Shadow factionsare currently available throughFortnite’s Battle Pass.
Players can also take part in weekly events that connect with Marvel’s comic book superhero Deadpool, one of many recent crossovers with Disney-owned brands that included an in-game sneak preview ofStar Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker. The currentDeadpoolevent involvesusing plungers to destroy toilets across the mapfor a chance at earning rewards based on the popular character.
While the fairness of aim assist being given to certain players has been a debate within theFortnitecommunity for some time, it is also believed to be helping in-game entities like the Henchmen. Popular streamers likeTyler “Ninja” Blevins have commented on the NPCshaving unfair aim since a patch released at the beginning of March, so it will be interesting to see if this is also addressed when Legacy Look Controls are finally given the boot.
Fortniteis available on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
