Hunters are the key focus ofFortniteChapter 2, Season 5. Thestory ofFortnite’s “Zero Point” seasonfollows up on theMarvel Comics-themed Season 4 by gathering characters from across different dimensions through a rift created by Galactus' invasion, including pop culture icons like Din Djarin (Mando) from Disney+ seriesThe Mandalorianand Kratos from Santa Monica Studio’sGod of War.

Fans of the popular battle royale title have been speculating about other characters they want to see as skins fitting the theme, such as Samus Aran from theMetroidseries. However, leaks have suggested more serious contenders such asHalo’s Master Chief coming toFortnitein the near future, and fans have also noticed clues around the in-game map and Epic Games' promotional material pointing to iconic alien hunter Predator.

That’s not all of the evidence, however. A Reddit thread from December 3 posted to the r/FortNiteBR subreddit by user DetectiveDomino suggests a sound effect in the stronghold may resemble the predator’s clicking noise. There is also an audio log posted to theFortniteTwitter account on December 1, called “Reality Log 1987” by in-game character Agent Jones as a clear allusion to the film. In the log, Jones comments that every jungle is full of “strange predators,” and then pauses to hear a distant roar.

References to the Predator have thus far only been included as subtext or hidden Easter eggs, so there is no telling when Epic Games may reveal more information about the crossover and what it will entail. There will be aFortniteannouncement at The Game Awards 2020this upcoming Thursday, but fans will have to wait and see whether this pertains to the classic sci-fi film.

In the meantime, Season 5 adds a number of new challenges for players to complete in order to move through the latest Battle Pass, which includes Mando’s Beskar armor. For those who want to try their hand at playing the Predator now,IllFonic’s asymmetric titlePredator: Hunting Groundsis available and still receiving updates.
