On February 21, Playground Games announced that the long-awaited second expansion forForza Horizon 5would soon be revealed. The developer posted when the announcement would take place on social media, but offered no other details on what it could be. The tease led toForza Horizon 5players guessing what the next expansion could be.Recently,Forza Horizon 5released the JDM update, which goes with the Japanese Automotive season in the game. With new cars to collect, including the 2023 Nissan Z and the Toyota Sports 800, the update was intended to keep players focused on weekly seasonal grinds like other seasons before it. The news comes just seven months afterthe launch ofForza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels, the game’s first expansion. However, news of theHot Wheelsexpansion was accidentally leaked on Steam just days prior to the official reveal. At the time of writing, no such leaks have occurred as far as the second expansion goes.

In a picture posted byForza Horizonon Twitter, a desert canyon with a racing fairground was shown, alongside a firework of a friendly-looking shopping bag mascot glowing in the sky. Whilethe mascot is no Master Chief, some users compared the shopping bag to the much-maligned and less friendly-appearing McDonald’s Happy Meal mascot. As for what the expansion could contain, users suggested that the expansion may either go from Mexico up to the Rocky Mountains or go into Mexico City itself. Only time will tell if any of these guesses may be correct, or ifForza Horizon 5will go in a completely different direction.

As for the game developers, the announcement ofForza Horizon 5’s upcoming expansion came just a month after someformer staff at Playground Games left the companyto form Maverick Games. Though it remains to be seen how much of an impact their departure will have on theForzaseries in the future, fans will soon have plenty to look forward to inForza Horizon 5.
