A gamer dad had an unfortunate situation occur when an attempt to share hisXboxwith his son ended in disaster. In the past, stories involving gamer dads usually involve gettingsurprised with a PS5 for Christmasor some similar heartwarming occurrence, but this dad learned the hard way that it’s best to not look away when a young kid is captaining a gaming console.
Using video games as a way to bond can be an incredible experience. Whether it’s using games to keep in touch with friends, bond with a child or family member, or even using online games to feel close to long-distance partners, they have a special ability to bring people closer to one another. For many who are now adults, video games were a natural part of their childhoods, and it’s only natural to be compelled to pass that down as a parent. When it comes togames available on Xbox, there are a variety of titles that parents can show their children in order to get them interested in games, but one dad’s attempt at bonding with his son over Xbox went horribly wrong.

While letting his six-year-old son play Xbox, Reddit user NoTangebleHuman had to face the horror of his son managing to delete his entireSkyrimsave data. Althoughthis isn’t the firstSkyrimdisaster, this is definitely one of the worst on the list. There’s no telling how much time and effort this dad had put intoSkyrimjust for it all to be gone in the blink of an eye.
Not only did the son delete the entireSkyrimsave data, but he also deleted three other unnamed games. It’s unfortunate that NoTangebleHuman’s son managed to go on such a successful deletion spree before anything fishy was noticed, but fellow gamers on Reddit flooded the post with comments of similar situations. There have been some heartwarming stories of parents and kids coming together through video games, like a parent recentlybuilding their kid a Switch Joy-Con shelf, but this attempt at bringing family together through games did not turn out nearly as sweet.
Although this loss of saved data has got to sting, NoTangebleHuman can at least have the comfort in knowing that both parents and older siblings have experienced incredibly similar circumstances. When a child or sibling gets old enough, it’s only natural to want to share something special with them, andXboxis something many parents look forward to sharing with their kids. However, situations like this can make some parents realize they maybe should have waited longer.
