Sayu is one of the most fun characters to play with inGenshin Impactthanks to her adorable rolling ability. She’s great for exploration and has some uses in a battle. However, just like any other characters, she comes with weaknesses.

For Sayu, her kit is hindered by her scaling. Before reaching C6,Genshin Impactplayers must choose between ATK or EM with her, making her quire confusing to build. Other than that, here are some other common mistakes players can make when using Sayu inGenshin Impact.
7Wielding The Wrong Weapons
As aClaymore user inGenshin Impact, Sayu must wield a weapon that helps her skills perform their tasks either by healing her team or dealing DMG. For that, players should focus on giving Sayu the right weapon based on her role.

If Sayu is operating as a healer, then Claymores like Rainslasher, Favonius Greatsword, or Sacrificial Greatsword, are some of her best options. While her DMG build consists of more offensive weapons, such as Skyward Pride or Wolf’s Gravestone. Claymores like Wolf’s Gravestone can even provide Sayu’s team with a big ATK% buff that can further increase the entire team’s DMG.
6Getting The Wrong Role With Her
It is obvious that Sayu isn’t a character with a kit to make it into the Meta. Her purpose is more into having cool and fun mechanics for players to have when using her. Yet, in serious combat situations, players must know what they want from Sayu by picking the right role for her.

Playing her aimlessly without any purpose will hurt her entire team and delay the time needed to finish crucial content likethe Spiral Abyss inGenshin Impact. For that, Sayu is a dangerous and complicated pick for this type of content.
5Not Using Sayu To Catch Crystalflies
This one might not be effective during combat, but Crystalflies are one of themost demanded items to collect inGenshin Impact. The thing about Crystalflies is that they’ll run away as soon as players come close to them, and since they fly, it can be hard to catch up to them.
That is where Sayu comes in to save the day. Sayu has a passive that stops Crystalflies from flying away when she’s in the team, allowing players to collect more Crystalflies. However, note that once players collect one, the others will still scatter away. When this happens, players can quickly Teleport away and then come back to repeat the hunting process.
4Not Going For Her C6
Just like most 4-star characters inGenshin Impact, Sayuneeds her Constellations to complete her kit. It’s hard for C0 Sayu to perfectly perform since her skills and scaling are limited without her Constellations. For Sayu to perform well and complete her tasks as a Support, it is recommended that players verify to at least get Sayu’s first Constellation before building her and start including her in teams. C1 Sayu enhances her Elemental Burst by allowing it to activate both its effects ignoring the 70% HP requirement it previously had.
However, her best Constellations clearly lie in her C6. C6 Sayu can now benefit greatly from Elemental Mastery (EM), which means players can focus solely on this stat instead of getting confused between ATK and EM.
3Not Knowing When To Use Her Hold Skill
Another mistake players might make thatisn’t related toGenshin Impact’s combat is not using Sayuto roll around the world map. Some gameplay might include farming some materials or certain items that require a dedicated team to cruise around Teyvat.
In addition to adding characters that decrease sprinting Stamina consumption by 20%, Sayu can also add another layer of Stamina saving by rolling to the target area without consuming any Stamina. She can also help activate the Anemo Resonance which will further reduce the team’s Stamina consumption in addition to a small buff to the team’s Cooldown.
However, note thatcontinuously using Sayu’s Hold Skill is not the best practice in timed challengeslike the Spiral Abyss as players will lose a large chunk of damage while they roll around with Sayu. Curiously though,players should still use her Hold Skill instead of Tap Skill, but only for a split second. This is because Hold Skill has higher DMG and better particle production.
2Building Her With The Wrong Artifacts
The complication in Sayu’s role might confuse players into building her with the wrong artifacts.As an Anemo unit inGenshin Impact, Sayu needs artifacts that enhance her ability to heal or inflict DMG.
Healer Sayu should role with Maiden Beloved or Viridescent Venerer. Maiden maximizes her healing effectiveness while Viridescent grants her an additional effect to debuff enemies’ resistance. Alternatively, Gilded Dreams set is an all-rounded choice of artifacts for any role since it grants Sayu a decent amount of ATK% and EM, and both are crucial for any of her builds.
1Including Her In The Wrong Teams
It can be tricky to build a team around Sayu or build Sayu around a team. The reason is mostly due to her underwhelming performance as a healer or as an Anemo debuffer. Yet, she still can shine with the right characters. Characters like Kaeya, Xiangling, or Raiden Shogun can greatly help Sayu’s addiction to roll, adding a purpose to her aimless rolls.
As for healing, considering Sayu’s healing is limited to a certain area aroundher Elemental Burst inGenshin Impact, it is best to match her with characters that collect enemies like Kazuha or Venti, or units that create similar area-effects like hers.
