The jungle of Sumeru inGenshin Impactis filled with animals that can’t be found in the first threeGenshin Impactregions. This includes some hostile creatures like Spinocrocodile, Wild Sumpter Beast, and Rishboland Tiger, but there are also some docile animals like the Dusk Bird.

The Dusk Bird is unique to Sumeru and is known to have beautiful feathers. Because of this, the creature is often hunted, and theA Short Encounter With A Rare Bird Quest inGenshin Impactis all about hunting Dusk Birds.
How To Start The A Short Encounter With A Rare Bird Quest In Genshin Impact
To start the A Short Encounter With A Rare BirdQuest inGenshin Impact, go to the hill north of Ruins of Dahri (southeast of Caravan Ribat). There should bethree Shroomboars surrounding a Sweet Flower. Kill the animals to start theGenshin ImpactQuest, marked by ablue exclamation mark.
Note: It’s best to have Aloy in the team before attempting to find the Shroomboar to avoid scaring the animals away.
A guy called Shefket will appear and ask theGenshin ImpactTravelerfor the Shroomboar meat they just got. He said he is a researcher that’s conducting a survey of animals in Sumeru. Next, he requires samples of Dusk Birds south of Apam Woods.
The researcher hinted that the creatures won’t appear during the rain, so make sure tochange the weather to sunny first. To do this, visit theVaruna Contraptionsouth of Apam Woods Statue of the Seven, then change the weather to sunny. If the option isn’t there, players should first use theVintage Lyreand play the Rhythm of the Source Water (Arapandu’s song).
For those who haven’t learned the Rhythm of the Source Water, they must first follow the Varuna Gatha Questline inGenshin Impact. It involves Arapandu investigating the abnormal climate in Apam Woods.
Once the weather is set to sunny, open the party setup menu andput Aloy on the team. The quest can also be done without Aloy, but it will be easier with her thanks to her passive talent which will stop Dusk Birds from flying away when players get too close.
Now,follow the quest navigation to a spot south of Apam Woods. Kill the Dusk Bird to spawn some Eremites. Defeat the enemies and Shefket will appear, asking theGenshin ImpactTravelerfor the Dusk Bird feathers. The researcher says that the feathers of the birds in this area are rather low in quality, so they ask the Traveler to capture Dusk Bird in the north.
Go to the designated spot in the north and kill the Dusk Birds. This time, some Forest Rangers will catch the Traveler, telling them to stop hunting the birds. They said that Shefket is a fraud, and he has been known for hunting illegally, so they make plans to catch the fake researcher.
Finally, go to the last spot of Apam Woods to catch Shefket. After hunting the Dusk Bird, players will need to defeat a few waves of Treasure Hoarders to finish the Quest.
