Genshin Impacthas officially revealed three new characters that will join the playable roster in the upcoming version 4.0. Developer HoYoverse has a pattern of announcing new characters 5–6 weeks before they officially get featured on a Limited Character Banner.

The recently held Special Program event forGenshin Impactupdate 3.8 has officially revealed that the release of the new Fontaine nation is just around the corner. The new region will introduce a new diving mechanic which will allow Travelers to dive deep underwater and explore the depths of Teyvat.

Genshin Impact’s official Twitter account has announced that the upcoming update 4.0 will add three new characters, Lyney, Lynette, and Freminet. The sibling duo Lyney and Lynette have been rumored to arrive to the game for a very long time since their appearance in one of the early story teasers back in 2020. The announcement confirmed previous rumors that both of them will befeatured in the first Fontaine update. According to his official description, Lyney is a celebrated magician of the Court of Fontaine where he works alongside his assistant Lynette. Recent rumors have revealed that while he seems to be a friendly character at first, Lyney actually has a much darker side, and he only cares about himself and his sister.Genshin Impactalso confirmed that he will be a new Pyro character and rumors claim that he will be the only new five-star in this update.

When it comes to his weapon type,Lyney is rumored to be a bow user who specializes in the main DPS role. He will most likely have great synergy with Lynette who is confirmed to be an Anemo character. Since she’s probably a four-star character since there have not been too many leaks about her kit. Many fans claim that it’s safe to assume that the first Fontaine update will revolve around these two characters and their performance.

The third character, Freminet, is also expected to have a four-star rarity and according to his official splash art, he will be a new Hydro claymore user. Fans have noticed that he seems to be holding the weapon known as The Bell, and they hope thatHoYoverse will finally introduce a four-star characterwho can benefit from this claymore’s stats and effects.

The official post did not clarify how the characters will be spread between the two banner cycles inGenshin Impactupdate 4.0. Travelers expect the first part of the update to feature Lyney and Lynette while Freminet will most likely be released in the second banner cycle.

Genshin Impactis now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
