A newGenshin Impactleak has revealed more information about a new diving feature that will arrive in the upcoming version 4.0. At the end of the Special Program for update 3.7, developer HoYoverse released the first Fontaine teaser that showed one of the two main characters, Aether, diving deep underwater which is a mechanic that has not been part of the game.
It seems like developer HoYoverse tries to add one brand-new feature to the game with every new major update inGenshin Impact. Update 4.0 has introduced the long-awaited Dendro element which completely changed the character meta as it added tons of new elemental reactions and much-needed combat diversity.

The recently heldlive stream event forGenshin Impact3.8also included a new Fontaine teaser that showed some of the upcoming locations. The video also showed the Traveler exploring the parts of Teyvat that are underwater. A newGenshin Impactleak has given more details about the way these diving mechanics will work. According to the leak, players will have a special kind of “underwater stamina” which could be similar to the bar that appears when the Anemo user Wanderer rises in the air with this Elemental Skill. The new stamina can be recharged when standing still in the water which means that players won’t have to swim up to the surface to refresh.
This is very different fromGenshin Impact’s current swimming mechanicwhich causes a character to drown when their stamina runs out, and it cannot be recharged by standing still. Players will be able to use their sprinting button to swim faster and their jumping key to rise to the surface. The leak has also confirmed that there will be underwater combat which got many players excited.
Players can either tap or hold their Normal Attack button to perform different types of attacks underwater. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely that they will be able to use their regular Elemental Skills and Bursts while diving. A lot of fans are wondering if this new mechanic can be used in different regions, or is it exclusive tothe new Hydro nation.
A large portion of the currently available Teyvat map is covered by water and revisiting these locations would improve the game’s overall exploration experience.PreviousGenshin Impactrumorshave been hinting that the Cider Lake that surrounds the main city of Mondstadt is filled with underground dungeons.
Genshin Impactis available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
