Genshin Impact’s recently released big version update 4.0 introduces the long-awaited Fontaine region for players to explore and experience a new storyline, and gameplay mechanics, and get to know new characters. One of these characters is Lyney, who is released alongside his twin sisterLynette, followed by their other siblingFreminetin the second half of the patch.Lyneyis the onlynew 5-star characterintroduced in this patch, and this, combined with the fact that he is a brand new Pyro DPS and a character officially teased long ago, makes him a great candidate to pull for.

On the other hand, considering that players can expect many new characters to joinGenshin Impact’s roster, many of which have been teased previously, many players might be wondering whether going for Lyney’s constellations is worth it or if they should keep their resources for the upcoming characters. While this is highly up to players' personal taste, there are some factors to look into, as some of Lyney’s constellations are better than others.

Are Lyney Constellations Worth It In Genshin Impact?

As a Pyro DPS character, Lyney is capable of high damage output even without any constellations, and despite his kit highly favoring amono Pyro composition. Nevertheless, his constellations are useful to significantly increase his damage, and as such, are quite worth it, particularly if players are looking to utilize Lyney as their new main Pyro DPS character. Luckily, many of his well-scaling constellations are early, similar to howRaiden Shogun’s constellations are, meaning that players can get the best value by going for his third constellation if they wish to do so. His sixth constellation is also quite significant; however, since C4 and C5, in particular, are not so prominent while still not bad constellations, it is not as worth it for the resources spent.

C1 - Whimsical Wonders

Lyney’s kit primarily revolves around utilizing double-charged attacks to summon Grin-Malkin Hats, which taunt enemies and explode with a high-scaling damage modifier to deal significant damage. Additionally, these summons can be exploded prematurely by utilizing Lyney’s Elemental Skill, allowing them to deal damage while also healing Lyney based on the surplus. With access to this constellation, Lyney can not only deal more damage by summoning two of these hats at once but also, since an extra stack of Prop Surplus is generated, it canallow him to heal more. The cooldown of the effect aligns well with Lyney’s Elemental Skill, making it easier to time during a rotation. Overall, this constellation benefits Lyney through additional damage, defense, and healing potential.

C2- Locquacious Cajoling

Lyney’s second constellation is by far his best, considering it has a simple activation condition that provides significant damage value. Since Lyney is an on-field DPS character, players can expect him to be on the field quite often, which in itself allows him to gain an additional 60% Crit Damage. With his own ascension stat being Crit Rate, combined with this effect, Lyney can achieve exponential crit values, even when luck has not favored their build for him. It’s important to keep in mind, however, that to extract the best value from this constellation, players should focus on building a team where other characters do not require frequent swapping, as each time Lyney is swapped out, he will lose the Crisp Focus stacks and need to regain them.

C4 - Well-Versed, Well-Rehearsed

Lyney’s fourth constellation allows for reducing enemies' Pyro RES, which on its own is not bad, but it’s not as significant when compared to his other constellations. This is because players can achieve similar effects by utilizingcharacters such as XianglingorZhongliinstead, or rely on the Viridescent Venerer artifact set equipped on anAnemo support character. Additionally, since Lyney’s Charged Attacks are generally focused on single targets, in situations where there are many enemies, it may not be highly effective in contributing to the team’s damage output. Otherwise, Lyney would need to focus on swapping between targets with each of his charged attacks.

C6 - Guarded Smile

Lyney’s final constellation allows him to focus even more on charged attacks. While Lyney’s charged attacks have good scaling, up until this constellation, most of his damage still comes from the summons rather than the charged attacks themselves. However, with this constellation, there will be additional damage potential with each Double-Charged attack, whether Grin-Malkin Hats are present on the field or not. With that, it can be said that Lyney’s sixth constellation also provides a significant increase in damage potential. However, players who find constantlyusing charged attacksunappealing may not find this constellation very valuable based on their preferred playstyle.
