Genshin Impact’s version 3.8 update introduces Veluriyam Mirage, a limited-time event area, where players can embark on a lighthearted story and explore this theme-park-inspired location. Within this new area, players will encounter various puzzles and chests, providing opportunities for discovery as they progress through the quest line. Furthermore, the update includes additional world quests, each with unique unlock conditions that offer valuable rewards, including Primogems.

One of the quests in question is titled “Returning Curios,” which requires players to follow a specific set of instructions to complete. Interestingly, players who have been using HoYoLab’s Interactive Map Tool forGenshin Impactmay have noticed the presence of unobtainablechests and a world quest since the beginning of the event. It turns out that these markers on the map are related to the “Returning Curios” quest. It’s worth noting that the rewards for this quest cannot be located using the Joyspar Gadget, which is typically used tolocate nearby Joyeux Vouchers. Therefore, players should simply follow the provided steps to uncover these hidden rewards.
How To Unlock Returning Curios World Quest
To unlock the quest, players must complete Secret Summer Paradise: Part 3. Once completed, the quest will be automatically unlocked. Players should then speak to Idyia, who can now be found at the Silver Bottle Courtyard, just north of the middle teleport point in this area. After speaking to Idyia, players can initiate the quest and will need to locatethree hidden chestscontaining mementos based on the given hints. Fortunately, the locations indicated by the hints will be marked with small area indicators, making it easier for players to search for specific locations.

First Chest Location
The first location is relatively close and easy to find compared to the subsequent locations. The hint provided mentions keywords such as “lamppost” and “taking a seat.” To find this location, players should proceed to the specified area just south of Idyia’s location. There, they will come across a group of two tables with several chairs. Players need to sit on any chair that has a lamp on top of it. By doing so, a Common Chest will appear, which players can then claim. Afterward, they can return to Idyia to proceed to the second part of the quest.
Second Chest Location
This time, the provided hint refers to traversing a forest, a shooting star, and going to a secluded place. The hint may not be immediately clear on what to do. However, players can easily proceed to the designated area in the southeast of the Silver Bottle Courtyard. There, they will come across a Choo-Choo Cart location that was previously inaccessible. Now, players can ride the cart to reach a nearby cave.
Upon reaching the cave, players will notice a Preprint Puzzle. However, before entering through the Projector, they must first move the box blocking the path to the side, allowing them to travel in the 2D dimension. Once inside, the puzzle is relatively simple. In the first part, players need to move upwards using the crate and the moving platform, and then proceed to the next room in the puzzle by going through the portal.

In the second part, players simply need to take the moving platform halfway to collect the chest. Then, they need to head back to the platform once again and go all the way up to reach the exit. Once they do so, they will be on the other side of the vines and can locate the shining spot nearby. Here, they must dig to uncoverthe Buried Exquisite Chestand the second memento. Afterward, players can once again return to Idyia.
Third Chest Location
The third part of the quest takes the longest time and is relatively more difficult. However, players will be getting a bigger reward for completing it. This time, players need to move to the fixed ferris wheel. Once players are at the nearby teleport point, they simply need to head up the path. Here, they will notice a group of Hydro Eidolons. These Hydro Eidolons want to play hide-and-seek, similar to some of the other puzzle quests in the Veluriyam Mirage. Luckily, their locations are simply marked on the map.
For the first Hydro Eidolon, players simply need to head towards the left inside the trunk. The Hydro Eidolon will then move across multiple locations before making its way back to the initial spot. Players just need to follow this Hydro Eidolon across the location, as ifthey are following a Seelie, and ask it to “Please go back to the original spot.”
The second Hydro Eidolon is located on a floating rock. To reach it, players need to return to the original spot and climb the small tree root to get a visual on the four leaf sigils ahead. These sigils will guide players towards the nearby floating rock. Once there, the Hydro Eidolon will transform into a balloon puzzle. Players just need to investigate or hit the balloons, and once they become airborne,use a Bow characterto shoot them. After successfully shooting the balloons, players can ask the Hydro Eidolon to go back to the original spot once again.
The final Hydro Eidolon is located nearby. Players just need to follow the first four-leaf sigil towards the west to reach the next marked location. There, they will find the Eidolon being attacked by fungi on a small wooden platform slightly below. Players simply need to defeat all the enemies to let the Eidolon return to the original spot.
Players will now need to return to the original spot, and the Clusterleaf will be unlocked. This will enable the discovery of more four-leaf sigils, allowing players to ascend to the top of the Ferris Wheel. To find the first four-leaf sigil, players can follow the three Hydro Eidolons towards the tree trunks on the left, and then move between the remaining four-leaf sigils until they reach the level where they can board the leaf carrier to the top of the Ferris Wheel. Once on the leaf, players should look towards the southeast direction and spot a new set of four-leaf sigils. When they get close enough, players can interact with them and proceed to the accessible floating platform. On this platform, players can admire the scenery and interact with all the markings, but they should focus on the buried chest in the middle. By digging it up, players will be able to open the Luxurious Chest and obtain the final memento.
Burying A New Memento
Upon returning to Idyia, she mentions that as part of the tradition, travelers can bury their own memento. Players can select either location, as the outcome remains the same. After making their choice, players should proceed to the next designated location and place their chosen memento. It is important to note that the decision does not affect the final outcome.
It is important to note that players can also discover another shining spot near a tree at their chosen location. Digging at this spot will reveal an additional memento. Players can then bring this memento back to Idyia, which will trigger additional dialogue in the quest. It is worth mentioning that players can keep all of the mementos they have collected throughout the quest until the end of the patch.
Returning Curios World Quest Rewards
In total, players will be able to claim one Common Chest, one Exquisite Chest and one Luxurious Chest, containing Primogems and other resources. Additionally, completing the quest will reward players with an additional 20 Primogems and 11000 Mora. For players who are interested in the story aspect of quests, they will also have the opportunity to read the letters attached to the mementos. It’s important to note that this is only available until the end of the event.
