AGod of War Ragnarokplayer has discovered that Heimdall has secret dialogue if players change any of their equipment during the fight. Not to be confused with theMCU’s portrayal of Heimdall, theGod of War Ragnarokcharacteris an arrogant and conceited figure, one that’s easy for every player to hate.

God of War Ragnarok spoilers AHEAD!Therefore, many players would love to give him no mercy duringGod of War Ragnarok’s Heimdall boss fight. Because of Heimdall’s ability, this boss fight is a bit of a gimmick fight, where players must use the Draupnir Spear to detonate secondary explosions and weaken the character. Once players discover the trick to it, though, it’s pretty straightforward. However, anyone changing their equipment will find Heimdall calling them on it.

As seen in the clip below and as discovered by Reddit user PredatorAvPFan, Heimdall can chime in with secret dialogue like “a costume change will not improve your chances here.” This is notable for a few reasons. First, the delivery by Heimdall’s voice actor makes it very clear that he is mocking the player, befitting to the character. It can help cement a player’s hatred towardGod of War Ragnarok’s Heimdall. Secondly, it’s a funny fourth-wall break of sorts, as this is just a simple gameplay mechanic reaction. Kratos is clearly not stripping down and changing in front of him, making it worth a little chuckle.

But namely, it makes perfect sense from a gameplay standpoint. It’s there to telegraph to players that, even if they have a collection ofGod of War Ragnarok’s best armorup to this point, that doesn’t really matter in this fight. In this way, this perhaps ties into the main chief complaint with the game. Many feel as if the AI characters are too reactive, telling them how to solve puzzles before they can do so themselves, and this is another indication of that within this boss fight’s main gimmick/puzzle. However, it can just feel like Heimdall is being cocky too, which is a nice little touch.

Of course,God of War Ragnarokis jam-packed with small details that help bring characters to life. For example, players were quick to nice thatThor doesn’t drink alcohol inGod of War Ragnarok’s openingbecause he is recovering alcoholic. He falls off the wagon later in the story, but for key reasons that really help it sell as a major part of his character and as a strong representation of alcoholism’s impact on a family.

God of War Ragnarokis available now for PS4 and PS5.
