Polyphony Digital seems to have settled into its post-launch content progression plan forGran Turismo 7, as the team has somewhat slowly, albeit steadily, continued to fill out the game’s vehicle roster, progression balance, and other assorted features. The latest in the long line of these content updates doesn’t break the mold, but it’s bound to be interesting to car collectors ofGT7.

Specifically, the team has just announced thatGran Turismo 7would be getting its update 1.17 on June 23. While the highlight ofGT7’s June update is assuredly its introduction of the legendary Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak Special from 1998, there’s also a new track and three entirely new Menus for players to progress through in the Gran Turismo Cafe.

Update 1.17 is rather similar toGran Turismo’s update 1.13from April. With three new vehicles and a freshly added historical racetrack, the update underlines the franchise’s dedication to racing culture. Specifically, the new cars are the aforementioned Pikes Peak Escudo, Suzuki’s new GT model of the baseline Vision car, and the 1932 Ford Roadster. As neat as the Vision and Roadster might be, long-timeGTplayers are likely to be interested in Escudo the most, as it used to be one of the oldGran Turismogames' ultimate crutch cars when modded properly.

As for the racetrack, New York’s Watkins Glen is included with update 1.17. “The Glen” is a dense, dynamic track with two disparate halves that push racers to their max. While the first half of the track features mainly high-speed sections with rapid passage corners, the second half is more technically inclined as it calls for sharp turns and a tight pace. There’s also a high-speed chicane towards the end of the course, but there’s no telling yet if this track also has its own version of theGran Turismo 7abductor UFO.

Finally, update 1.17 also introduces three big new Menu items to the Gran Turismo Cafe. These are the Toyota 86 Collection, Honda Type R Collection, and the Rotary Engine Collection. All three unlock at relatively high Collector Levels, which means new players may first need tocomplete otherGran Turismo 7Menu Booksinstead.

WhileGran Turismo 7’s full car listwas remarkably impressive on launch day, Polyphony Digital seems to be intent on filling it out even more. The team hasn’t said anything about major paid expansion packs or DLC just yet, so it’s possible that the game will simply continue getting moderately sized content drops for the foreseeable future. Whatever the case may be, fresh content is always a good thing, andGT7is on track to continue getting more of it.

Gran Turismo 7is available on PS4 and PS5.
