One key element to designing a tense, engaging heist scenario is having some kind of ticking clock. If characters have to follow a strict schedule to avoid being caught, any interruptions become magnified. This can be seen in popular movies likeOcean’s Elevenas well as video games likePath of Exile’s recent Heist league, but an exploit inGrand Theft Auto Onlinecan potentially take this concern away.

Heists are not new inGTA Online, the multiplayer extension of Rockstar Games' popularGrand Theft Auto 5. In fact,Diamond Casino heists were added last December, which means players have had plenty of opportunities to case out the scene, learn how many different snags they can encounter, and escape with lots of cash to their names. However, one Reddit user named DistressedUnit recently shared that an apparently long-time exploit to make the job easier is still active.

By trying to drill into the vault at the same time as a teammate, DistressedUnit said they were able to glitch through the wall without starting the vault heist’s countdown timer, according to their post in r/gtaonline yesterday. News site Dexerto said this has been possible for a long time, withGTA Onlineplayers simply running into it more often recently, and a Reddit commenter named jdcbaron said, “We do this every single time.”

DistressedUnit said they were able to loot the vault while the timer was not active before their teammates exploded the vault door, creating a potentially easy way to “get all the cheapest crew members to maximize your take as you wouldn’t need a hacker.” Then again, this might not be worth the effort for many players, as Rockstar has handed out so much free money to its players in the past that some have pointed outissues counting their money usingGTA Online’s display.

Though there is still plenty to do inGTA Online, many Rockstar fans are likely spending time inRed Dead Onlineright now.Red Dead Onlineis currently hosting Halloween-themed events, even if many fans have expressed concerns about its underwhelming content in comparison to whatGTA Onlinehas offered in the past.

GTA 5has been available for at least seven years, and the fact that players are still active enough to be discovering and pointing out exploits is a testament to the game’s success. It’s likely to continue this reign for a long time, asGTA 5is releasing on the PlayStation 5and Xbox Series X while rumors aboutGrand Theft Auto 6continue to circulate online.

Grand Theft Auto Onlineis available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
