Horror romance movies are on the rise for the past couple of years but in reality, they are not such a new trend. Love and fear go together really well, and a lot of directors and screenwriters have seen the opportunity to combine the two and create a lovable monster: what is known as the horror-romance genre.

This marvel of a movie premiered in 2014, and it is known as “the first Iranian vampire western.” It is shot in black and white, has a soundtrack that almost every viewer searches for after watching, and glues everybody at the edge of their seat while simultaneously wanting to make them grab a blanket and drink some tea. Otherwise: this romance horror movie has everything – and more.
A lonesome female vampire stalks the Bad City, a place where the only thing that seems awake is a crime. Arash is a young guy that lives with his drug-addict father and tries continuously to pay off the debts to his dealers. These two will meet and fall in love – and there will be murders. And probably no summary does this film justice.
6Sleepy Hollow

The victims were decapitated, and everyone seems to think that the killer is a headless horseman who roams around, looking for his stolen head. Crane meets Katrina Van Tassel - is instantly smitten - and the two of them together create a dazzling team that tries to solve the mystery.

This is one of those movies that, when it’s finished, the viewers might wonder: “what did I just watch?”. But that’s not always a bad thing.Life After Bethis a sweet and gory kind of zombie movie that manages to capture the viewer by the neck and make them wonder what could possibly happen next.

3Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Fans went absolutely crazy about this movie when it came out in 2007, and it wasn’t only because Johnny Depp,Helena Bonham Carter, and Alan Rickman were in it. The story is as romantic as it is sinister, and no matter how dark and bloody it is, viewers still find it a “cozy” movie.
It tells the story of Benjamin Barker, who is married to beautiful Lucy, and they have a child, Johanna. When a judge that lusts after his wife wrongly imprisons and exiles him for 15 years, all he can think about is revenge. Upon returning, he meets Mrs. Lovett, who owns a meat shop, and she tells him that his wife committed suicide, and his daughter is the ward of the judge, who, disgustingly, lusts after her too. Benjamin takes the name of Sweeney Todd and tries to take revenge on everyone who wronged him by luring them into his barber shop and slitting their throats instead of shaving them.
2Only Lovers Left Alive
This movie has everything it needs in order to be absolutely cheesy: a depressed-suicidal musician, a gorgeous blonde-mysterious woman, and a mentor-poet. And they are all vampires. Yet,Only Lovers Left Alivemanages to be absolutely the opposite of cheesy (and no, it’s not uncheesy). It’s a delicious art piece, a masterfully crafted film, that one simply has to watch to understand the appeal.

Adam and Eve reunite after being apart for a long time. They drink, they dance, and they make love. All is as it should be, apart from the fact that the world they live in is moving forward without them. 1Warm Bodies
The “star-crossed lovers” is always a theme that attracts many viewers. So do zombie movies. Putting these two together might seem like a weird idea, but it works on many levels: there is horror, there is romance, and there is humor. It is an unlikely cocktail that nevertheless works very well.
