Releasing in 2007 for the Xbox 360,Halo 3was a massive success for Microsoft and became one of the most well-regarded entries in theHalofranchise. While there was no shortage of reasons for its popularity, one contributing factor was the plethora of excitingCovenant and UNSC weaponryavailable to use during combat. Among the many iconic guns found in the game was the sniper rifle. Recently, one gamer decided to try and make a replica of this iconic weapon in real life.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as omar-ZX7 shared a picture of a recent 3D printed object they created. However, this was no ordinary project as the Reddit user had decided to recreate the sniper rifle used by theMaster Chief inHalo 3. In the image shared by the maker, the gun was displayed on a couch, showing the realistic scale of the 3D printed object.

Many elements found on theHalo 3sniper were present in this 3D-printed prop. For example, it included a characteristically long barrel. It even had a magnification scope attached to the top and had a bipod at its base. In addition, the weapon had a gray paint color and featured authentic weathering across the replica, giving it a more realistic appearance.

Besides showing off the creation in a picture, omar-ZX7 shared some details behind making the sniper in the comment section. According to the Reddit user, an Ender 3 v2 3D printer was used with PLA+ filament. However, they noted that fragile parts, like the bipod and handle, were printed using PETG filament instead. Once they had successfully 3D printed the sniper prop, they used acrylic paint to finish the design. When all was said and done, the project took roughly 3 weeks to complete, while the printing of the sniper lasted around 50 hours.

Unsurprisingly, numerousmembers of theHalocommunityon Reddit took notice of this sniper rifle prop designed by omar-ZX7. With over 2,100 upvotes in less than a day, the majority of gamers were impressed with the level of detail in the 3D printed object. In addition, many commented that it had a striking resemblance to the gun seen inHalo 3. Furthermore, some joked about the creator taking a picture of the sniper rifle prop on a couch. “I’m glad you keep it comfortable,” khakipants117 quipped.

While this sniper printed by omar-ZX7 was impressive, it was far from the only prop weapon created by passionateHalofans. For example, another gamer 3D printed a prop of theMK50 Sidekick pistol seen inHalo Infinite. As players continue to revisit this famous first-person shooter series, it will be interesting to see what other creations from talented fans are shared with the community in the coming days.
