On June 14, 2025,Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mysterylaunched for both iOS and Android mobile devices. The first title released under thePortkey Games label,Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mysterywas an instant hit, generating significant interest inHarry Potterfans and skyrocketing to the top of the mobile gaming charts. Two years after its release, developer Jam City is celebratingHarry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery’s anniversary with a special contest for fans.
Starting April 25,Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mysteryfans can create their own original costume design for the game that features “elements from all four Hogwarts Houses.” Three finalists will be chosen, and thenHogwarts Mysteryfans will vote for the design they like best. The winning design will then be added to the game at some point in fall 2020, with more details to come via the variousHogwarts Mysterysocial media pages.

Besides the chance to participate in the contest,Hogwarts Mysteryplayers will also get a party onesie and slippers themed after theirHogwarts House, which will be added to their clothing collection on April 25. Furthermore,Hogwarts Mysteryplayers will notice that their Common Rooms will be specially decorated for the occasion.
Jam City has also released some interesting infographics that proveHogwarts Mystery’s wild success. According to Jam City’s data,Hogwarts Mysteryplayers have played the game for over 35 billion minutes, participated in over 50.5 millionQuidditch matches, and cast 2 billion spells. The most popular magical creature is apparently the Niffler, whereas the most popular Hogwarts House is Gryffindor (though that’s not terribly surprising).

Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mysteryhas proven to be quite popular for mobile gamers so far, but it will be interesting to see how Jam City will continue to keep fans engaged with the game moving forward. Right now,Hogwarts Mysteryis in Year 6, and Year 7 will presumably bring about the end of the storyline. It remains to be seen how Jam City will keep players invested in the game beyond that, but one has to imagine that it already has some plans for what comes next.
In the meantime, fans may also be anxious to learn what’s next for the Portkey Games label. BesidesHogwarts Mystery, Portkey Games has also helped launchHarry Potter: Wizards Unite, aPokemon GO-style game from Niantic. Rumors are that aHarry Potterconsole RPGis in development as well, though nothing official has been announced on that front.
