Supermanstar Henry Cavill has recently talked about the idea of coming back to the role he helped to revitalize withMan Of Steel. Warner Bros and DC have been developing projects around the absence of Superman during the fallout of DC comics live-action cinematic division.
Supermanis a pivotal aspect of any DC ensemble story, but unfortunately, Cavill had, in some ways, unofficially left the role. Following the departure of Zack Snyder, Ben Affleck, the inappropriate conduct by Joss Whedon, the unfair treatment of Ray Fisher, the fallout of Jared Leto’s Joker, andthe cancellation of Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke, DC and Warner have been playing catchup. Cavill managed to leave without burning the bridge as he’s always been open to coming back to the role.

Now that the actor has been able to cement his legacy outside of DC by starring Mission Impossible: Fallout, Enola Holmes, andThe Witcherit seems he’s open to giving Superman a second shot. The actor did an interview with Lorraine and said, “I do still have the outfit,” responding to being asked if the outfit is still in his closet. “Just in case, yes I do, yes I do. Ready and waiting for the phone call.”
The actor then went on to reflect what it meant to be that character, “It was the kind of thing where even I, after it’s been so long sinceI put the suit on, professionally, you look back and you think, ‘What a wonderful opportunity. Even if I were to stop acting tomorrow, and go live on a yacht or a steamboat, I can still look back and say I’ve worn a cape and leaped about the place and entertained some people.”
Even though Zack Snyder’s vision wasn’t ultimately realizedon the big screen, it’s nice to know that Henry Cavill is still grateful for the time he had while working with DC. It still, however, seems that the actor wants to end the character on a high note as the story in both versions of theJustice Leaguemovie ended on a minor cliffhanger.
Right now it looks like things are changing in the world of DC comic book movies.Black Adamis an upcoming anti-hero film that stars the titular character (played by Dwayne Johnson)and is definitely a passion project for those involved. They look to make things more cohesive in DC and please the fans. With the recent success ofThe Suicide Squad,it looks like DC is turning its luck around.
