Hogwarts Legacydoesn’t have a traditional morality system, but that’s not to say that there aren’t still plenty of opportunities for players to unleash their inner evil. For example, in many ofthe game’s side quests, players are able to demand a reward before returning recovered items to their rightful owners, and, in some cases, can even opt to keep these items for themselves if they so wish.

Players are also given choices in some ofHogwarts Legacy’s main story missions, the first of which sees them having to decidewhether to go to Hogsmeade with Natty or Sebastian. Then, a little later on in the player’s first Potions Class, Garreth Weasley will ask them to steal a Fwooper Feather from Professor Sharp’s office. He assures them that Sharp will never find out, but can players really trust this red-haired prankster?

Updated Jun 17, 2025, by Tom Bowen:Players are expected to make numerous decisions throughout the course of Hogwarts Legacy. One of the first big choices that they’ll be faced with comes during their very first Potions class, during which, they’ll be asked to steal a Fwooper Feather by Garreth Weasley. Despite Garreth’s assurances that there will be no consequences for them doing so, it’s only natural that some players will want to find out the potential repercussions of stealing the Fwooper Feather in Hogwarts Legacy before they make up their minds.

Should You Steal the Fwooper Feather for Garreth Weasley? (No Spoilers)

In short, yes;players should definitely steal the Fwooper Feather for Garreth Weasley. This is because there are no lasting consequences if players decide to steal the feather. Strictly speaking, there are no real consequences for not stealing the feather either, meaning thatit doesn’t really matter what players decide to do. However, opting not to helpGarreth Weasleyby stealing the Fwooper Feather from Professor Sharp’s office will lead to players missing out on a rather amusing cutscene.

What Happens if You Steal the Fwooper Feather? (Spoilers)

IfHogwarts Legacyplayers choose tosteal the Fwooper Feather and hand it over to Garreth, he’ll add it to his potion, which will then explode into a rather impressive fireworks display.Professor Sharp will know right away that players stole the featherand will confront them about this when they speak to him at the end of class. If players decide tobe honest and own up to it, he’ll commend them for their honesty. If they lie to him, on the other hand, he’ll instead tell them that they need to start taking responsibility for their actions. Either way, none of this has any major impact on events moving forward.

What Happens if You Don’t Steal the Fwooper Feather? (Spoilers)

If players choose not to help Garreth, he’ll be a little disappointed but ultimately understands and will resolve to work something out for himself. His potion will once again explode, though, this time, Professor Sharp will commend players for saying no (ironically,he’ll still do this even if players say no to Garreth but steal the feather anyway). More importantly, players will still be able to complete Garreth’s side quest a little later, meaning thatit really doesn’t matter whether players steal the feather or not.

For those wondering, Garreth Weasley is almost certainly related toRon and the rest of the Weasley clanfrom theHarry Potterbooks and movies. How exactly he is related isn’t entirely clear, but some have speculated that his aunt, Professor Matilda Weasley, who players will also get to meet inHogwarts Legacy, is most likely Ron’s great great great great great aunt. If this is the case, that would make Garreth and Ron distant cousins.

The former’s prolificacy for pranking would seem to suggest that, like their distinctive red hair coloring, mischief-making may well run in the Weasley genes.Fred and Georgeboth exhibit the same appetite for mayhem that players see in Garreth throughoutHogwarts Legacy, and there’s an argument to be made that Ron, Charlie, and even their father Arthur enjoy bending the rules every now and again in the name of having fun.
